Palaezzz folks. We are fishers here. Can we get along?

From an On-Line dictionary:

ignorant
adj \ˈig-n(ə-)rənt\

Definition of IGNORANT
1

a: destitute of knowledge or education <an ignorant society>; also: lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified <parents ignorant of modern mathematics> b: resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence <ignorant errors>

2

: unaware, uninformed

ignorantlyadverb

ignorantnessnoun

If you don't know, you're not a Yank or a Texan. It means you don't know. Hence the original question.

That there is a Mexican Chupacabra bass not a damn perch!

Pretty neat little fish. First one I caught was all the way up in the Catskills NY while on a hunting trip as a youth. Those red eyes kind of spooked me a bit thought it was a possessed small mouth ha! Was about to perform an exorcism till my pop told me what it was.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Here's my thought. Calling it a perch is like somebody posting up a pic of a large mouth, asking what kinda fish it is, and the answer they get is "that's a fresh water fish." My guess is, he knows its a "perch"

Dont step on that crankbait.

Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state.
But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

I guess I will let you argue that one out with the state. They have been called the same in this area my whole life.

I'm from up north and I couldn't care less what people call fish, so long as I know what they meant, it doesn't hurt me any.

Y'all need to relax, folks.

Cool fish anyway you call it. I haven't caught a warmouth but would love to.

TPWD lists them as also called Rock Bass cause they knew plenty of folks around here call them just that. And nothing wrong with that at all!

But since you mentioned arguing it with the state, well, there wouldn't be much of an argument. TPWD agrees that Warmouth and Rock Bass are in fact, separate species.

In fact they say as much in the link you posted. If you read the very end of the two paragraphs under "Life History" in that link...You'll find these sentences, as written by TPWD.

They're very similar species. True Rock Bass are comparatively rare here in Texas, while Warmouth are very common. Up north, it's the other way around.

Hey lavonfisher. Did you ever decide what kind of fish you caught? And why would you want to start this kind of heated debate on a site where everyone always gets along so well? Ha ha.

Not saying you are wrong, but I was under the impression that Rock Bass had RED EYES.

I have lived in South Central Texas all my 63 years, my Daddy taught me any fish we caught that wasn't a bass or a catfish was a perch. They still are.
