I just put ceramic bearings on one of my Curados today. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. The upgrade only cost about $40.00 I was told that you can really experience a gain in casting. Looking forward to that experience. Any comments?

I Have not upgraded with ceramic bearings but I upgraded my citica with curado bearings I bought from academy, it was a kit for curados. Not sure if they still sell the kits but it made a big difference with the old citicas.

I put ceramic bearings in a couple of my Mg50's and it made a great reel even better. They are very fast and take some getting used to.

I put them in two of my citica's and the I am getting about 20-30% further about the same distance as my 10 and 11 bearing reels. I went with the apex 7. They are louder you can really hear them wine.

Well, just got back from a near by pond to try the C bearing out. I had 65lb braid on it so probly not a good test for the first time out BUT I was casting as far as my spinning reel with the new super slik Berkley Nanofil. The things tht make you say Hmmmm!

I got mine at GUT3s Reel Repair in Killeen, TX Call TIGHTLINE PREMIUM FISHING TACKLE: 254-890-3474 He can send you the bearing or better yet, send him your reel to get cleaned and lubed while installing the bearings.

Yep got'em in mine. They do make a difference. I got mine from late4lake...tacklesmith here on the board...good guy to deal with.

They cast so smooth and far I'm always throwing into places I shouldn't...then have to get myself un-hung...:)

I put BOCA abec 7s in all of my curados. It improved them drasticly. I think they ran about $30 a reel for the spool bearings, well worth the money. Tackle tour forum is a good one to check out if you are interested in tinkering with your reels.

Do you run them dry or with lube?

I got into bearing swaps a few years back. It's just my opinion, but I think that the biggest jump in reel performance comes free. Stock bearings properly flushed and ONE drop and I mean ONE drop of Rocket fuel is all I need. WELL MAINTANED stock bearings out perform neglected super bearings everyday.

Court,

What solvent do you use to clean your bearings? And do you just soak them then blow them out with canned air?

I soak my bearings in acetone and then blow them out with an air compressor. I did notice an improvement after cleaning and properly lubing my stock bearings and then another improvement when I upgraded to ceramic bearings in the curados. I think it probably demends on what grade of bearings your particular reel comes with from the factory. I noticed a big difference in perforance in my E7s but not much of one in my chronarchs or premiers when trying ceramics over stock.

Boca Lightnings and Orange Seals are great. They will make a noticeable difference in your casting distance over stock bearings.
