Fish, For a more accurate repair I would replace the idm first and then retest for possible failed injectors. It is hard to accurately test for a failed injector if the module that controls the injector is failed. I will also throw this out there. The valve cover to injector harness connection can become loose and cause high resistance/poor connection due to vibration or worse you will notice the engine harness melted at the valve cover connectors. If this is present you need to make sure the glow plugs are ohmed/tested for high resistance. High resistance in a glow plug will cause excessive resistance and cause the harness to melt and possibly damage the idm. Been there, done that. Hope your truck gets fixed.
Wes Srianekkul Ford Certified Diesel Technician This mans knows his stuff. Been keeping me running. And has repaired a few things along the way. I would check it out of the shop its in and let Wes handle it.

Wes that's pretty much what my normal guy said today. The shop I took it too originally was a second option at the time

Dropped it off at my normal diesel mechanic this morning Texas Diesel Power. Was told it would be after lunch before he could get to it 2:30 I get a call and its up and running
Looks like it was nothing the other guy said it was Apparently there is a screen tip on the siphon tube in the fuel tank. If it breaks off the 1/4 of a tank is actually empty
It was out of fuel! Or atleast couldnt reach what was in the tank.....
He put a new battery in it as I knew I had one going bad Everything runs perfect and looks like I got about an hour of work this weekend pulling the bed to get to the tank
Now if I can only get the 200 bucks back that I spend on the first guy

Never understood why some "mechanics" go straight for worst case scenario/most $$$ first? What if he would have done all that work that didnt need to be done, the still had the problem? Once those electronic parts are installed they cant be returned and you would have had to pay for them and still would not have been any better off. Parts changers are not mechanics, but I love them, they have made me a good living. LOL

You can get new connector and screen from Ford for just a few bucks. Get it done soon, if you don't the water you buy in the diesel will rust a hole in the tank. Voice of experience speaking here.

If it's the rear tank, you have a full days work ahead of you.
