There is a sensor on back of the high psi oil pump that will stick and not let high psi oil to the injectors. Also wiggle the wiring harness around on the engine and toward the injector drive module. Not alot else you can check besides fuses without a scan tool.

I had to replace my cam sensor on my 7.3 3 times. It would be running then just die. I was towing my tow hauler loaded down one day doing 70mph on interstate and it just dies, no brakes no power steering no nothing. Threw it into neutral while still going 60-70 mph and turned the key and it started right back up, crazy!!!!

Well the mechanic is still looking at it. Says he is having trouble getting anything off the computer. He thinks that the computer module might be fried.

PCM - doubt it. Bad ICP or IPR sensor or wiring issue probably -stick with the injector theme.

For about a hundred dollar bill you should be able to have an accurate estimate in front of you with everything that is wrong with your truck. Parts for your truck are expensive so make sure only failed parts are being replaced. This is the difference between a mechanic and a technician ;-). Pm if assistance is needed.

Well I went by the shop on Saturday, to get my tool bag and depthfinders out of the truck.

Doesn't look like he has done much of anything to it besides roll it inside.

I'm still waiting for a quote to get it fixed.

Well the news isn't good.

Looks like the IDM is fried and I have a couple bad injectors.

New IDM and full injector job is pricey!

Fish, For a more accurate repair I would replace the idm first and then retest for possible failed injectors. It is hard to accurately test for a failed injector if the module that controls the injector is failed. I will also throw this out there. The valve cover to injector harness connection can become loose and cause high resistance/poor connection due to vibration or worse you will notice the engine harness melted at the valve cover connectors. If this is present you need to make sure the glow plugs are ohmed/tested for high resistance. High resistance in a glow plug will cause excessive resistance and cause the harness to melt and possibly damage the idm. Been there, done that. Hope your truck gets fixed.
