Just try to move off of the ramp when your unloaded. I see alot of boats pulled up on the ramps and the wind blows them sideways and blocks the whole ramp.

Not much help from me, but someone said above to get ready before you back down. That has helped me more than anything else. 2 weeks ago, I am backing in next to a man and wife allready backed in with their brights on at 5 a.m. I cant' see, get out twice to check to be safe. Finally get backed in. Climb out crawl across the boat and lower my engine (trim pump kind of slow) Choke it and crank it. (1988 mercury with a carb) Let it run for about 5 seconds looking back to make sure it's pumping water. I back up, pull to the dock. Tie off boat. (I'm not beaching on concrete just because I'm alone, sorry) Walk quickly up the dock and move my car. The guy next to me with the wife in the truck and no more than a 2 year old boat is still sitting on the trailer Idling and playing with the sonar. The people behind me were real nice to me after that.
I'm in and out of the way with a 25 year old boat and engine in less time than most people because I make sure everything except the front stap is ready to go, unhooked, or plugged in before I try to get into the lane. I also don't do the rope thing because when I first got a boat, I went the the lake about six times before I got it to run good, so now I always crank it and back it off to be sure.

That is the way I do it. I can be in and out of the way quicker than most 2 person teams.

i have used one of the retractable dog leashes on a lighter boat....tie it to the dock, and back the boat into the water. pull out and the boat would be pulled to the dock by the time i got back from parking.

use a long rope tied to the bow of your boat, run in into the cab of your truck, and hold on to it while you back in. once the boat is off the trailer, hop out of the cab with rope still in hand, pull it to the dock, tie it off and go park.

Now that's the way I do it with 1 exception, ALL the courtesy docks at the ramps I usually use are at about my forehead level when I'm standing in my boat so they're basically useless. I just pull my boat up on the bank. Like a previous poster, I'm in & out about as fast as most 2-man operations.

the ramps we launch on have the floating courtesy docks, so its a little easier to tie off to them.

i bet you learned it from the guy that sleeps with my wife.

"Just be certain you tie the rope to your trailer before backing in and letting the boat float free. Don't ask how I know this... "

I use a long rope roll down my window and hold it outside until the boat clears the trailer. Then step out of the truck and tie it off. Gone in 60 seconds.
