I hope to go on Thursday or Friday to Georgetown's blue hole. Has anyone else been out flyfishing for trout yet?

Went to PK at the hwy 16 bridge to 1/2 mile downstream. Landed 4 8" trout. Only found 1 small pocket with fish. Wind was 25-35 and 46 degrees, I figured nobody else would be out but about 6 other guys.

The wind was not too bad on Sunday unless you made it around the bend sount of the bridge. It did get a little windy there, too much for my liking anyway. A couple of guys were back there and caught a few. We stayed in the area between the bend and the bridge.

This morning I went to Tyler State Park and caught 16 rainbows. I used my 7'-3wt rod with an olive #16 beadhead wooly bugger. Most of the fish I caught out in the middle aboout 100 yds from the boat ramp when they were rising to midges. I just threw the fly out near where they were rising and slowly worked it in. If one hits but you miss it, just contimue to work the bugger in because they will usually chase it and hit it again.

no trout caught by me or my fishing partner, just one little ol' perch.. there is very little water flowing in the San Gabriel at the Blue Hole so the fish are only up in the pool above the dam. Last January when I fished it last, the water was flowing at least a foot or two higher and the trout had spilled over the dam and into the river below.. lots of fun working the river .. but the weather was nicer this time.. coolish but sunny.

I just got back from the Blue Hole and I have nothing to show for it! I zeroed!!!
A friend and I went out there and it was windy and cold. Only saw a few people with stringers of fish all were very small. Saw one guy catch a fairly nice fish but everyone else was catching little minnow trout I lost one fish on a jump but that was it! Will try later--let me know how it went for everyone else that wet a hook there!

I noticed that last year, do you think the trout could be any smaller? I for one am a little disappointed with TPWD trout, but I wouldn't want them to stop stocking because it is a great way to get people to fish and I can always go after whitebass and LMbass if I need more size. I've wondered if the money might be better invested in native fish or fish habitat just my .02 Anyway if size matters go on down to the Guadalupe, (TU) stocks them big! 12 to 20 inches!

I went to the Blue Hole in Jan of this year and I caught some decent trout--12-13in---not huge but thats not bad for hatchery trout! I also talked to a guy that fishes there quite a bit and he said that his son caught one a long time after they had been stocked and said that it was about three pounds! He also said that if the summer is not too severe that a few trout make it through the year--once again, I don't know for sure--seems like they would die off unless they found some cold springs--they make it in the guad but thats a bit colder that Blue Hole! I don't get to fish the guad alot so having a few small trout close to home is better than no trout close to home
Do you think the trout they stock in Jan will be any bigger? I caught the nice ones later in the year so I am wondering if anyone knows if the second round of stockers is bigger. I had a couple of good hits on the fly rod last year but it was too windy when I went yesterday. I want to go and try it again later. Hope to see some of yall there! God Bless!
