i keep my fish in way hotter temps than that but it's oil and they're battered.

The cool water WILL shock them as WILL the hot water when you release the fish. They may not die in your possession, but they're more than likely going to die if not acclimated slowly when going from one temperature extreme to another.
I don't fish tournaments much but I have handled and transported largemouth bass for many, many years. I'm not just blowing hot air at you, sir. Fouz is correct. Call any fish farmer and he will verify it. It is easy to temper the fish back to the correct emps just takes about 20 minutes.
Retirement best job ever.
