I guess I was at the right place at the right time  I've seen some carp/buffs before hanging out around those rocks at the dam, feeding. A few weeks before I was casting to some carp there, and foul hooked one. But this one was totally blind casting!

That's fantastic. What a story, and a great fish. I saw a couple Buffs today at Texoma but didn't get them (or much of anything else) to bite. I think you'll have that record for quite some time to come. Congrats!

Christian let me think I was going to outfish him. I think the whole thing was a set up  We had been trying to hook a buff for the txfishes contests, but neither of us got one. The pictures don't do that fish justice, it had a nice bronze shimmer. I was pretty disappointed that bass pro didn't take it. I remember reading posts on here a few months ago asking for fish. Are they just looking for big bass and carp? Oh, the buff was well deserved after spending the whole morning throwing poppers on 3/4 of a 7wt
