Pop's in Terrell is hard to beat. A 10 piece, 3 sides, bucket of gravy and a dozen biscuits usually costs us about $12. Unreal!

The BEST there ever was Jimmy's Flavor Krisp Chicken.
That was my uncle and his 3 brothers. We had stores in NE Texas in places like Jefferson, Hughes Springs, Daingerfield, Gladewater, Center, etc...
MAN it was just the BEST
Combination of the late 80's crash and just basically 4 good ole oys who had little business sense did them in.

The best ever was pan fried by my Mother. I sure wish I had learned exactly how she did it.

When I was in Guatamala, they had a place called pollo campero. I dunno, if it was just because I was craving something quazi-American or what, but they had AMAZING fried chicken. On the flight back, there are literally people carrying giant buckets of fried chicken back to the USA.
They've opened up a couple franchises in Dallas and in south houston near hobby. I haven't been there yet, but in Guatamala they were awesome.

Miss Allen's in Sweetwater is really good. i was thinkin' just that as i started readin' this thread ... i ain't had anything bad there Allen's is the best and it still is $7.95 all you can eat I believe. Only open on weekends but if you are going through Sweetwater and need some fried chicken try Gill's as it is really good too.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Another place that makes it more home style is in Saginaw, called CR's. Or Dixie house...
