I have a 2002 model Yamaha vmax 150, Trim and Tilt worked fine up untill last Fri night on Gvine watching fireworks. Pulled into Scotts ramp on the grass and the motor wouldnt come up. After researching fluid, volts, rods, more fluid, fuses, wiring, and more fluid, I found out that the reason the fluid was gray and fizzy looking instead of pink, there was water leaking into the system. I had also noticed the trim rod seals were not screwed down all the way. YEAAA!! thumb So I got an estimate for a new system..... $1006.00, wait...... Plus $240.00 for labor. Any one who can help me on this issue please dont hesitate to chime in!!

I have a 200 and the same thing happened. They are very simple to rebuild just order the part from boats.net and do it yourelf. you need a special wrench to remove and tighten the caps on top of the cylinders.

Sometimes it pays to be broke/cheap/or whatever you want to call it. Mine broke 2 years ago and the estimate was a tad over $800 to replace. 3 days of searching the web and found a company in North Carolina that had a brand new unit for $239 + shipping. Total, $246. Took me about 30 minutes to put it on. I'll try and find the link if you want it.

Check out this site and schematic. Looks like it could be rebuilt for about $40 or $50...and a couple hours work..if your into that kinda thing.
