Zone III

This little guy was walking down the path at the Evening Hole 30 ft from people, with no care in the world.

The pic below is from the Evening Hole. Normally there are about 5-10 people here. Not one person this day.

My new found hole is still producing massive Sunfish from 8-10 inchers on every cast. You can see 100's of them swimming around. It also spurts out lots of Walleye if you can get the fly down to them w/o the Sunfish eating it first. Crappie, trout and sandbass also come out of this spot.

The trout were loving my fly I tie for the river and also, they were nailing San Juan Worms like they were candy.

Tally for the day:

Husband- 11 Rainbows
Wife- 2 Rainbows
( Going into the trip, I knew the Husband wouldnt make it through the trip due to the heat. He made it till 9 am and we had to get him into the air conditioning. On the way out, I asked the Wife if she wanted to catch a trout really quick. In 4 casts she caught 2 nice Rainbows. Sorry for not alot of pics, they didnt care to much to have pictures taken. They were they just to enjoy the outdoors.)

Mart- 13 Rainbows
Me- 48 Rainbows, 40+ Sunfish, 1 very small Crappie, 2 Brown Trout

Hey man, good thing you put that first pic up there for the size. I had no idea it was that big! Is it? Cuz if those are full size oak trees and whatnot, then wow. In my mind I was picturing the LMF as more of a stream, or small river. Have you been to the Guadalupe, If you have, how do they compare ( in size )?

Beautiful photos. That is such a great place to fish.

Thanks tarponfly, the extra pics are very much appreciated. Looks like some good fishing. Are you doing good with any dries? I'm still very confused on how all these sections and creeks come together to make the LMF, but I'll look it up on a map.

In the areas i have been in, there have been small hatches for about twenty mins to 30 mins and it's over. But, there are some trout in the river that will take a dry when there are no hatches. The grass hoppers are out, so match the color of them that day and I'm sure you can pick up a few..... I usually throw one fly I tie for the river.

Hooked up within 10 mins of starting the trip. Fred had never fly fished in his life. Hes hooked now! over 80 fish landed from 6 am till 6 pm. All of them were big with only about 5 or so being under 14 inches. My "fly" strikes again. Other clients and people who ordered my fly are sending me pics of huge fish and lots of fish they are catching on it..... Water feels great up there during the heat of the day. The bite is best from 5:30-10am. There is a Hex Hatch going on up there in the wee hours of the day. A Hex is a Mayfly on steriods. A very big bug. The bite is good at night for the hatch with trout eating them through the wee morning hours.
The deer were out this trip with thier little babies. Looked like the little guys were only 2-3 weeks old or so. We saw more deer this trip than in 2 years. 18 total including the little ones. Very pretty with all the spots on them.

Same fish

Met about 10 people from TFF at the river! Nice to meet you guys finally. And great job Fred!

Wow! Those are some huge bows from lost creek! I caught a few fingerling size bows, and only saw a few good sized trout that were very weary and spooky... Some really difficult fishing in there. I caught the lights out of e'm everywhere else though.
