You guys that fish out there all the time, is there a ramp that is deeper now that you don't run the risk?

I just used Fishermans cove this weekend with no problems. It is really steap and getting shallow but still workable.

It's a little inconvenient but well worth the extra effort to launch at the public ramps. Esp. 154 and 515 west. I'm sure the Minnow Bucket is still good too.

We used to launch at 154 back in the late 80's when the lake just opened. That ramp is probably good to 20' low. Sure hope we don't have to find out

You may get to someday..I live almost on Cooper Lake and they have sucked it down to 13+ feet low before. Needless to say all boat ramps were totally useless at that point. If I remember right, it had to catch about 4 to 5 feet of water to get even one of them back in operation. On a side note, how many folks have docks and boat houses high and dry right now @ Fork?

Be really careful when you back in and unload at Fork. I tore my prop up this am at Oakridge and I had a buddy loose his skeg there. I'm ticked, just got a new prop a week ago!!! Tough break, Ronnie.. Everyone needs to use extra caution on all lakes..

I've seen a many a skeg/prop tore-up on the top of the ramp backing down.. Trim up guys, now a rock pile out from the end of it too ?? Sounds like a track hoe could fix it.

Little clarification: We tore out the old ramp and poured about 75-feet of brand new steel-reinforced ramp this past November. Comments about which side is better way-back when or what shape it was in a year ago are no longer accurate.
The new ramp is steeper than the old ramp. Because of that, there is an area at the end of the new ramp where the old ramp is slightly shallower than the new ramp. As the lake level continues to drop, that will become a factor, especially when launching.
Although I saw three HUGE boats launch there this weekend successfully (mega ski boat and fishing trawler), it sounds like the lake level is reaching a point where the old ramp may be coming into play again.
I'll be down at the ramp today with a contractor looking at what we need to do to remedy the situation.
To all, please don't hesitate to stop in and make us aware of any problems you encounter at Oak Ridge. Our motto is: "If it's good, tell your friends. If it's not, tell us so we can fix it."
