A limit of unders? Wouldn't that be illegal? You trying to set up me up or are you trying to use reverse psychology on me?

Fork has a 16-24 inch slot. It's different from statewide regulations for bass. When I say 'under', I'm talking about bass smaller than 16 inches. 5 fish limit, just like elsewhere, You can keep a three incher if you want. (I'll bet you'd do that too! rolfmao) More power to you man. What you can't keep is fish in the 16-24 inch range. You're allowed to keep one fish over 24 as part of a limit. White bass, which Fork hasn't had in any kind of large numbers until fairly recently, are generally considered bad for the lmb population, at least in terms of making the right conditions for really big ones. They compete for shad and their reproduction and recruitment rates are much higher than largemouth - several times over. In the grand scheme of things, a large white bass is literally hundreds of times more common than a large lmb. It's considered bad form by many bass fishermen there to throw back a white bass. State bag and size limits do apply concerning whites, so I am only joking about keeping all of them. But there are some who believe that since many TPWD officials don't want them there in large numbers, the wardens will look the other way concerning violations with them. I think this is probably just a rumor. I try to keep all the legal ones I catch there.

There are lots of reasons why the bass are so big and healthy at Fork. Chief among those reasons is that very few large fish are taken out by fishermen. It's not rocket science, dude. wink

Didn't know Fork had a 16-24 inch slot or about it being over populated by white bass. Thanks for sharing. If I'm ever down there, I will do my best to take my limit of white bass just for you so you can enjoy catching all the LMBs you want. That's the cool kinda guy I am rolfmao I'll definitely take that bet of me keeping 3 inch LMBs... thumb Just don't bet your house coz you'll be homeless...Don't want that on my conscience rolfmao

probably heading out there this weekend in the new kayak. Can anyone launch at that location or do you have to be staying at the rv park? I have never been to fork.

I've launched from Hideaway Harbor and the guy at the store waved my launch fee because I was in a kayak.

I've used several different private/campground ramps there. They all have a drop box at the entrance or next to the ramp itself. 2-3 dollars is pretty much the range of fees. You don't need to be staying there.

I might head out there myself some time later in the week.

Debbie fishes some, and sometimes just peddles around. She's happy to get out and kayak. But sometimes it not about just fishing, like me smile.

Found this.............

FORK
This is simply the best lake in Texas for big bass. Lake Fork has produced most of our state-record bass simply because the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department did a beautiful job of management before the reservoir was ever inundated. Throughout the area that would be covered by water when the dam's gates were closed, big Florida brood bass were placed in small lakes and ponds. The result was that the lake started producing state-record fish almost immediately.

At various times of the year, practically any lure will work in this 27,690-surface-acre body of water, but diligence to detail and hard fishing is often required to catch bass weighing more than 10 pounds. Many lunkers are taken at night after the waters quiet from all the boat activity.

Because this lake is only a couple of hours' drive east of Dallas, it gets lots of fishing pressure. Its reputation also draws anglers from throughout the nation.
