Effective immediately, the Wednesday Night Grapevine Series operated out of the "Scott's Landing Marina" has been temporarily suspended for the next three weeks. An announcement will be made as to the resume date and location. Arrangements and new permits are being finalized.

Couple of bad apples screw it up for all!!!!

I just read on star telegram.com that 2 guys got in a fist fight after the tourney over a fishing spot.

I am only going to make one comment on this matter so the rumor mill doesn't get out of control.

A couple of anglers particpating in the Wednesday Night Series apparently got into some heated discussions on the water regarding fishing spots. After the weigh-in, a confrontation ensued in the parking lot in front of the marina at which time two individuals were involved in a physical altercation. Because of their unsportsmanlike conduct, and the disturbance caused by all involved, the police had been summoned and are investigating the incident.

Due to the behavior of just a couple of individuals, the marina staff made the decision to not allow any further tournament from operating on their property. It was a privilege to be able to host events from Scott's Landing, however I completely understand and respect their decision. I cannot blame them one bit.

In the interim, we have suspended operation of this series for three weeks to allow those involved to cool off, secondly, I must obtain the proper permits to be able to continue to host these events at another boat ramp. I will make an announcement well in advance when we will resume this series. I deeply regret that this incident occurred, and apologize to all of our anglers for the inconvenience that this situation has caused. It is simply unfortunate that the actions of a couple of individuals can have such a negative impact on our sport in the eyes of others.

Lets not allow this to get out of hand. Lets move past this incident and learn from this so we can continue to promote tournament bass fishing that we all love so much.

Sad thing is I could see this coming....Back in 1999 or so, I was fishing with Joe Mazzurco during the first season Bass Champs did their working mans tournaments. We had some retard pull up on us while we were fishing silver lake marina and tell us we need to get out of his spot. Well Joe and I fed off this then explained about public water very politely then said retard pulls out what looked like a Beretta 9MM. Well at the time I was working for Watauga PD and he saw me retrieve my USP .40. well he splits and calls Grapevine PD and they along with Chad and Jeff want to know what was going on?

I never saw the retard again...but the retard was driving an older red/black Skeeter with a Mercury.

Scott I am sorry about this incident. You run one of the most first class tournaments in the business. I hate to see you get the black eye from these two jackoffs...

Well Said Scott. These types of incidents are not that common in the tournaments that I fish but come close to the same outcome. That is why we have the distance rule in place and if someone comes on you, get their TX numbers and report them to the TD for violating the rules. These two should be banned from all future events during the Wednesday night tournaments at Grapevine so that the others who were not involved can resume having the tournaments.

If they were both competing in the tourney then yes, I believe they should both be banned from future events. But, according to some reports, 1 of the individuals involved was not competing in the tourney. I wasn't there so I can't say for sure.

Sorry to hear about this Scott. Scott's Landing has been hosting tournaments for many years and it really stinks that the actions of a few can result in lost privileges for so many.

Scott will get things going again. He's a great TD and the sport needs more TD's like him.

These guys are not ambassadors for the sport and should not be allowed to fish if this is the way they handle problems.

I was really looking forward to this tournament!
I used to fish tournaments in East Texas all the time until all my junk was stolen. I just started getting back into it. Oh well... Thanks Scott for being a good leader in all this. I don't know you that much but from what you said previously it seems like you are a good guy. Can't wait until this blows over!
