Yes, every Sunday from 6:30am (or safe light) till noon. Peeps usually start showing up at 6-6:15am and start launching. Launch and weigh in is under the I-35 bridge. Entry is $15/man. It's an individual tourney but you can fish 2 from a boat.
Last yr there was on average 15 boats I'd bet (25 entry's with some being close to 20-25 boats and 30 entry's, at least all the ones I fished.
It's winner take all and I recall last year one pot reached close to $400.

Did somebody say bluegill and shellcrackers? Heading out tomorrow for some panfishing. Any particular patterns/areas for the panfishies?

I went last Sunday for a couple of hours. Launched at Schumans ( thanks guys ). Spent most of my time playing with my new LSS-1 ( its AMAZING ). Caught three dinks but had a GREAT time. Not much boat traffic on the lower end of the lake and that in itself was worth the trip. I caught all three on a parrot colored Rapala crankbait.

Hey Tamale, can you give a guy some help on where/how to fish Dunlap? I just throw my tacklebox at them and see what they hit! No rhyme or reason lol...

I started fishing Dunlap by "junk fishing". Then, I narrowed it down to buzzbaits, pitching a jig/craw, pitching a wacky weightless 5" Senko, and casting KVD 1.5 and 2.5 cranks. I've only caught ONE big fish, and the rest have been this size:
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I caught my PB at Dunlap. She went 8lbs15ozs! Caught her on a PopR in about 3ft of water! Things have gone downhill since then! I keep trying though! Sounds like I'm throwing the same stuff as you Cloud Dancer! I might want to change to something they aren't used to seeing!

I dont know man. Last year it seemed you could go just about anywhere, throw the jig and catch a 7 pounder. This yr is a totally different story. We need current.

I am taking my family to lake dunlap, staying at a cottage for a long weekend. I am a first timer to the lake, and I am looking for some advice/recommendations...1)good places to set up juglines/throwlines 2) Any tips for kayak fishing? 3) How busy is the lake? Could my 7 yr old be ok in a kayak on his own and not have to fight traffic. Any and all help you be much appreciated!

Boat traffic can be pretty heavy and since its so narrow wake and waves get to you quick and hard for boats to avoid you even if they want to. I only kayak on it earrrrrly morning and at night. I dont think I would be comfortable with a young one out there.

A great place though for the kayak would be to get in at the 35 boat ramp and go upriver. If you want you can portage over the little dam and head as far upriver want without boat traffic. Comal of course will have tubers during the day.

+1 on Texag's thoughts. Put in at 35, go upstream (to the right if you're facing the water on the ramp) and fish up there. should be WAAAY safer
