I am not familiar with this lake, but the idea of a lake, even a small one, totally drying up, is mind bottling...

It's not all that small. At least it's not supposed to be. Conservation pool is 5,440 surface acres. Whether it's ever seen conservation pool or not, I have no idea.

To be honest, OC was never intended to be a viable water holder. The dam was costructed for most part as a flood control for northern and downtown San Angelo. It was never consistantly full, even during wet years. It has a very small watershed. (North Concho river)
Still, its sad to see it go dry.

That looks more like an excess water holding area, to shallow to be a full time "lake".

Looks like max depth is 58 ft at conservation level. Around 1988 or so the lake was kind of full, around 60,000 acre feet (60% capacity). I suppose this is one of the repercussions for building a reservoir in the desert. O.C. Fisher water history

You mean how fast is it going down is the correct wording. Been there 4 weekends in a row and i would guess ive seen it drop over a foot during that time.
