That's **** Justin. You barely have half the prop in the water at 8 inches.

That's just over your ankles, draw a line from the prop shaft to the bottom of the skeg. Now float that tub in real 8 inches, and see where you can trim down to get a bite with your prop. You can't.

Watch people down at Mansfield or Arroyo city, you'll see some that can do it, but they are small, very small boats with small motors which can roll out on a hard bottom. Big V-6's can't get enough prop in the water to fill the tunnel.

Other considerations for how shallow a boat will get up on plane are the use of a hydraulic jack plate and counter rotating props such as the old Yamahas. Even with these additions, you need enough water to cover at least 2/3 of the prop blades to get up on plane.

You are absoltely correct Pat. I had a 14' Dargel Skooter with a Bobs and a 90 Yamaha(slightly over rated on the HP plate)and could get up on hard sand with the hull completely bottomed in about a half turn. Of course, I went through prop jobs left and right. There is no way an 18 footer or bigger will do it.
