We went out there tonight and fished from dusk until about 1030 off 181 Cove. Caught catfish but couldn't get any reds interested. They were jumping and breaking the surface all around us though, just need to figure out what to get them interested. Saw them coming out of the water, finning with their whole back out of the water right at dark, it was pretty cool. I think live bait under a balloon would have been the trick but we didn't have the cast net with us.

My worst day fishing was better than my best day at work

Had them on two different bass boats. One was a Tracker and I mounted the deck plates to the back deck with no problem. The first one was a Glastron and I cut a 2x8 the width of the back deck and mounted a plate on it to fit the bass chair receiver then mounted my downrigger base plates to it. If you can picture that it worked great for quick removal when I needed it.

I actually have 2 downriggers on my tracker boat. However they are not mounted on the deck in the back of the boat. The mount is nailed in the back of the boat into the carpet.

I'm thinkin that i can mount it with some self tapping screws through the carpet and into the floor below. Putting it in between the side rail and the storage box. Redfish 21, do you happen to have any pics of what yours look like? Thanks for the help, I've only had the boat for about a month and not to excited about drilling holes everywhere.

I have an alumacraft kinda looks like the tracker in back.Had a hard time with my instalation of down riggers cause the expanded foam they have in the rear fender walls.Don,t just use screws, drill holes and put some back plates underneath, for good support. You will hit bottom sometimes, and don,t want them yanked off.I wished I would of installed small pillars though for added height. And swivel bases are good too.

What if I use toggle boat to secure the mount down. They should give support underneath the deck.

Also went to 181 cove yesterday and casted on bottom with perch. caught about 15 reds. All very nice. Smallest was 23 inches and we caught one that went 30.

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

What's up Redfish. I hope all is well.

Where is the 181 cove where you caught reds? I keep hearing past the wall. But then where? Is it the first circle looking on the left past wall?

Were you sitting in one spot? How deep was the water.

I catch tilapia, but never found any perch.

Thanks

If you leave out of boat ramp and head over to crappie wall take a left back across the lake towards 181 highway and it's the second cove over from the two big wooden post in the water. It's the cove that you can see the cars passing on highway hope this helps

Not the big ones you catch at the wall on the worms. The really small to medium ones you catch in the cast net at the boat ramp.
