Nope, not the same, it is only an area where people tie up. As I've said, there are more people with kids than not. So, from what you've said, one rude vulgar group in ONE boat control the entire area. Not happenin'! Won't let one group kick out 20 other families. THAT is the point that few seem to get. Not sure why fishing gets mentioned, who was fishin'? We went there because the water is clear and calm, there are many other families, and we swam, didn't fish. No one is headed to Sturgin with their kids and NO, I don't take my 3 granddaughters to Hooter's either. But, to each his own. 13 year old twins to Hooter's? Hey, couple more years and it's off to the Chicken Ranch for bonding!! This is not what you implied originally. I know I am not the only one that thought you were referring to Party Cove on Lake Lewisville. Here, you imply you were speaking of a spot on Ray Roberts. I don't know of an area known as Party Cove on RR, but I am not as familiar with that lake. Also, you were not clear that this was 20 boats with kids, and one boat jamming "Parental Advisory" rap. Again, that's a whole different deal. You led us all to believe you were on Lewisville, at the well known Party Cove. Clarity is next to godliness.

I think the party cove at Ray Bob is the first or second cove just east of the dam.....by the way we fished Ray Bob yesterday and we saw a boat and wake-boarder go right under the spillway thingy on the dam and it says stay back 300 ft but always seem those boats get so close to it....someone will get hurt one day

Sorry that some assumed that "party cove" only relates to Lewisville. Would tend to believe there isn't a lake anywhere that doesn't have an area referred to as the "party cove". My moniker is "Ray Roberts" so could have assumed from that also. Still, in my eyes, whether the lake is Lewisville or Roberts, common decency should apply. Lakes are not immune to laws and anyone, no matter how old the parent may be, should consider any of this type behavior inappropriate in a public place imho, PARTICULARLY in a place where kids are present.
Be assured, I have my skeletons that are well known by my friends and family. Made me who I am. But, as a Christian, I will never ignore behavior that can negatively affect my children and grandchildren. Certainly not in the name of "it's just how the world has become". Right is still right!
I do believe the thread has probably run its course. With the answers I see why these areas survive and prosper.

Probably most on here have not even been to Party Cove on any lake. I have not but definitely know enough that it is not the place to fish or take kids. If you want to party go to Party Cove...if you want to fish go someplace else. To me that is pretty simple to comprehend...apparently not for all...
I'm not saying what goes on there is right or even legal but I don't go there so they can do what they want and it affects me zero.

It's kind of like the old saying, "there is a time and place for everything" and although I don't agree with what may go on in a "party cove" I would much rather they do it there than in places on the lake where families and those who would rather not have to see what is going on with that kind of behavior.
Staying out of "party cove" if you don't like to see it and those who want to act stupid, just stay in party cove, and everyone will get along.
It's those who then take it out of party cove to other areas of the lake that gets those places shut down, and what the authorities then have to zero in on.

I like that they are in one cove that way I know they will not bug me! That and on Ray Bob all u have to do is go north of wolf island cause those boats dont dare go up there!

I have really enjoyed the thread personally. What is surprising is the only outspoken ones are the ones who support profanity around kids, public intoxication, general vulgarity. Be assured, like everyone, I have a checkered past, but don't take my 7 year old to Baby Dolls. Nor do I attend. However, I find it impossible to believe that anyone with children would consider this behavior appropriate. The "party" cove is only a moniker. There is NO sign at the cove opening, "nudity, profanity, and general vulgarity recommended here, all others stay away". FURTHER, as I've said, 50% of the boat owners in the cove have their kids with them. This not Lake Lewisville where apparently the vulgar rule, this is Ray Roberts, a far more family oriented lake. Thank the Lord!
Just proving where far too much of the world is headed, down the tubes. Those of you who support this unneeded behavior will one day have children and will change your tunes I hope. It's amazing how the supporters are the ones who tell others to not judge. I would hope if I saw a parent beating a child in public I would step up and not say, "well I'm not here to judge".
Be assured, I fully understand I won't change a single opinion, just had some personal thoughts on the matter. Your examples are apples and oranges my friend. Seeing someone beating their child in a public place and going to the "party cove" on a popular recreational lake are 2 vastly differant situations. And I'm glad that you won't take your child to a strip club, because you know what goes on there. Shouldn't you also know what goes on at the "party cove" even though there isn't a sign? Now drinkin and carrying on while your kids are present probably is not a good thing, but it is not illegal. While I may disagree with those parents I do not have the right(or legal authority) to tell them how to raise their kids. Kids will be exposed to stuff whether I like it or not, so it's my duty not to shelter them but to teach them to be responsible. It is a big lake, and they have as much right to it as anyone else. There are plenty of coves and areas you can take your family to and have a good time if you choose too. It's not like they are getting right up in your face and you have no where else to go.

Frenzy, when there are 20 boats with kids, another 10 with no kids but bahaving just fine, relatively loud country music or rock, then one boat comes in playing nothing but "the F" word music and you are telling they not only have the right to be there BUT they have the right to infringe on another 60 peoples' rights? Man, I find it hard to believe they have the RIGHT to play that music and that the other 20 boats should either teach their children to ignore it or just leave. They 100% have the same right as the rest of the boaters to be there, but they do not have the RIGHT to play that music with 40 children in the same PUBLIC area. This isn't Lewisville, which apparently is well known as Sodom and Gomorrah and accepted. This is a small area where primarily families tie up to let their kids play together and yes, maybe, have a beer or two. It should not be headed toward being Plato's Retreat.
IMHO, if society has come to the point that we just have to ignore profanity, obscenity, vulgarity, then our society is in more trouble than I thought. From many of the responses I guess it is.
Last thing I will say, look up the lyrics to Lil' Wayne's "DI#) Pleaser" and tell me how this is appropriate music. If you say this is acceptable and something you teach your children to ignore I will admit I'm wrong and stand down.

sounds like the other boats playing country/rock need to get a better system in their boat so the F word rap playing guys music can't be heard...

I went to "prudence cove" on my local lake the other day. Took my fifth of Jack, my gamblin dice, my nudey mags and my brass knuckles. Would you believe everyone just wanted to sit around and knit and discuss golf scores. It was so offensive. Think they all need a course in Debauchery 101.
