Sandies schooled at the Lake Dallas cut from 4:15 until 5:15. Bunch of small ones with a few larger ones mixed in.
I saw a nice hybrid caught off the troll on my way in near twin poles.

If you catch a hybrid while trolling, it should be illegal to keep it.

Fished wirh Bob Copeland and my son this morning. Caught 27 or so. Fish were scattered at best. Most of the fish came from dead mans point area slabbing. Some boats were slaying them. No real concentrations other than that. The usual topwater action at the dam etc. just never materialized. Had a great time though.

Was out yesterday from about 5:00 until dark. We messed around at deadmans for the first 45 minutes or so. I marked fish, but we only caught a few. I noticed in many cases, it looked like the fish I was marking had a bait ball over them, so I think they were moving with the bait. This of course assumes I know how to read my graph.
We also stumbled onto a school of whites, bum rushing bait onto the little point at the old dam up in just a few feet of water. They were small, but gave us a little action for a bit, before they seemed to leave.
Headed down to the dam to bass fish, and did pretty well there, working about half the dam with square bills. Caught several LMB and a pretty good channel cat.
As others have said, they don't seem to be bunched up real well, making it kinda difficult to really get into them.

If you catch a hybrid while trolling, it should be illegal to keep it. Meant to ask you when you'd like to go downrigging for hybrids with me this summer!

Went out last night and fished with live bait. Caught one good 7 pounder at the humps near the old dam cut. Was using large shad though. Going today with intentions of catching smaller bait. Live bait has been producing for the hybrids lately. I'm going to stick with it until it stops...

I have never seen a gizzard shad from Lake Lewisville that was too big to catch hybrids. I wouldn't worry about downsizing your bait.

Ya I was worried that they were too big. I had to fillet the one caught last night because he swallowed the hook. Also swallowed the bait I was using. 4" gizzard. Found two other shad in his belly both around 2.5 inches long. had me wondering... I am interested to see if the bigger ones will cause me to miss more strikes. Also i think the larger ones may stay alive longer on a hook or in my live well. Just a thought...

The bigger ones will live longer and be more feisty. It never hurts to catch large and small shad and fish them both at the same time. But 5+ lb hybrids have no problem eating big shad.
