Managed to somehow lose a spinning rod this morning. It's within about a 20'x50' area I figure and would like to drag around for a bit to try to recover it.
Some weighted snag trebles and have at it?

I have 3 giant treble hooks I got at Academy. Dull the points, I cut them off about 1" from the tips, tie them about 10" apart on a heavy cord and put a 3oz weight on the end. Throw it out and drag it around with the trolling motor on low. Good Luck sucks to loose a rod.
Retirement best job ever.

How deep is the water? Is it shallow enough and clear enough to.get a water proof light and swim for it?

Take one of those metal chain stringers and drag it around with all the hooks opened on it.

Old metal stringer works great, ive found a few by using them.
A few weeks ago at Amon Carter, the wife tossed one over board.I didn't have my stringer in the boat, but found some old shower curtain hooks i had used for culling fish.I tied them on a rod with braid, unhooked them an pulled them apart just a bit.About 20 cast,i pulled the rod n reel in out of 10 ft,of brushy water.

I went and bought two old school metal stringers at walmart. They were surprisingly cheap at $2/set. (academy seemed to be $5-6). Figure I'll drag around one on each side of the boat. Picked up four marker buoys so I can square off the area and try to work over the same area. Will try in a a bit to recover it! It's in 15-20' of water, and I swim as well as a anchor does lol

Put a 3 or 4 ounce salt water weight in the front hook of the stringer it will keep all the open hooks on the bottom.

The reel should have some ferrous metal in it, right? How about a big strong magnet on a rope? I'd put a plastic bag over it so it's easy to remove all the other ferrous stuff you pick up as well.
In space, nobody can hear you scream for ice cream.
