Like MP said, we don't know all the details and what was said back stage. Personally I don't think JVD did anything wrong. Unless this is a spot DB fished Thursday and JVD had a lower takeoff and just beat him to it. I respect DB but, he seems like the type that's never wrong and will tell you about it. Kind of thought DB was a DB on his show "Getting Schooled by DB" or whatever it was called. The unwritten code stuff, I would think, applies to Sunday and would not apply if you're a contender like JVD was.

100% agreed, I guess the responses here show me why so many people are so discourteous at the lake.

True, and to add to it......what gets me is they get on the TFF Monday morning and tell about this guy in this certain boat cut them off and how they are going to break out the ninja moves next time they get cut off. I guess the heat is effecting the thought process~

Would the same thing happen if JVD wasn't a kid? What if it had been Skeet? I bet money DB wouldn't be pulling that ....

guarantee you KVD wouldn't have let JVD come in on him like that either... He likes to win too much. I really haven't heard him talking much about his nephew...good or bad.

So reading the article and never really tourny fishing. First the red river is public and I believe most tourny's have a rule you can't fish with 50 yards of another person without asking.

They both are trying to win that is why they the field and fish a fourth day, correct? How fun would the superbowl be if the team leading at halftime by 6 had an unwritten rule that other team must not pass the ball. Kinda loses the whole reason for the sport. If the pros believe that instead of it being the elite series and tourny's make it darn fishing show.

I think the point so many people are missing is that it is strictly an "unwritten rule" or "code of conduct" that the pros fishing the Elite series have (at least the VAST majority) adhered to for years. In the eyes of the guys that have been around for a while and followed that code, it is a big item with them to see someone break it. It really is not important for us to agree with or disagree with that type of code. It is not important for us to like it or not like it. It is their code and anyone expecting to play in their game should be prepared to live by that code also. If they don't, they may have a really tough time of it if that even last on the circuit.

I still say it is very debatable to say JVD was even in contention when you consider the where they were fishing and how much of a lead DB had going into the last day.

I have a question. JVD is a rookie right? Well if its an UNWRITTEN RULE how was he suppose to know he was "violating" it?

I do not believe you can be involved in fishing like he has and work your way up to the elite circuit and not have heard of it. I mean, come on, he does happen to have an Uncle that has participated in a couple of the tournaments.

Also, as a rookie I would consider it his responsibility to find out what the dos and don'ts are on the circuit. I believe almost all sports organizations have their own set of unwritten rules and codes of conduct.
