Sure looks like the rat snake i took a pic of about two weeks ago that was occupying a parking slot in front of a popular seafood restaurant across the street from one of my favorite fishing holes.
Mine still has the head on it and was allowed to continue on his journey to the restaurant's dumpster, where i am sure he helped rid the world of a few more mice and rats

Wow, why do people kill snakes? Ask yourself that question when you have a water moccasin chasing you around the shoreline.

Reminds me of when the police shot and killed a 5 year old when trying to kill another "deadly" rat snake. People should have to pass basic animal identification in order to get a hunting or fishing license.

Have you ever been bite by this harmless rat snake? I've been bitten by one just walking around in my chicken coop. These snakes have been in my hens nests eating all the eggs.
Don't know why some people on this forum get all butt hurt when someone kills a snake.

These snakes have been in my hens nests eating all the eggs. They'll eat hatchlings and older chicks as well. I keep the rat population down in the barn and around the chicken coop so as not to attract rat snakes and copperheads. Don't know why some people on this forum get all butt hurt when someone kills a snake. Some of us like snakes, even had them as pets. That doesn't mean that I won't get the 12 gauge out next time I have a Copperhead in my yard.  My parents killed every snake they saw but I think it'd be good to learn to identify them so you won't eliminate your allies along with your enemies.
