Looks pretty good to me I have a Mad River 16ft canoe and have been researching for the best way to outfit it with outriggers.

Not sure if it is the best way but it is the way that works for me since I have no center brace. I wanted to be able to walk from front to rear. The mods were fairly easy after you get over the fear or nervousness of drilling holes in the canoe. I can take the outriggers off or on in less the a minute per side

Ahh thought they look familiar. Did the back part of the mount come with it? I just may have to borrow your idea Thanks for posting it

Look forward to seeing what you do with yours. If I can help let me know Ok will do. Are you gonna put a trolling motor on it? If you do, I can you show you the mount I made for my canoe.

If it was me, I'd try shortening the distance you outriggers stick out from the canoe and see if I could achieve the stability I wanted while being as least cumbersome and obtrusive as possilbe. The closer to the canoe the outriggers all the more manuverability you will have and you have less chance of getting them caught up on something. Nice design and install though. Looks professional, you did a good job.

I thought about shortening the length it is only 36 inches but a good water test will tell.
Ren I have thought about a trolling motor but not sure yet

!!! only 36 inches... wow. you're canoe is like 9 feet wide now. I realize you can put them up if need be but then you lose the stability... I'd bet you don't need those to be any further than 9 to 12 inches from you canoe and you will still have all kinds of stability from them... Just thinking out loud...

I hear you I can cut them down as needed. I guess I never looked at it that way I just figured the wider the better but I see your point that's why we post and ask for comments and suggestion you don't always see everything other people see things you could have missed or did not think about. Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Will think about that for sure it will probably make it more secure on the mount as well.

Plus shortening them will make the PVC a lot stiffer then being long.
