I guess if you have a bad first day you should just give up and quit? Why even fish the next three days then, just let the top 10 guys have the lake after day one. He found the fish during practice was within the rules, so what did he do wrong? He did his job and put himself in contigent to win.

No expert here but I think JVD should have asked KVD his opinion Thrusday evening. He might of, I don't know. Denny should have asked him to leave and explain why he was asking. If JVD choose not to do this Denny should have let JVD know that he was going to let everyone know the way the conversation went down and move on.
Congrats to Denny. He said that Kelly Jordan helped with the Lock situation or he probably would not have won because he would have not got back in the time that he did.

This goes back to the Velvick vs Martens issue on falcon, Both found them in practice, both had no problems on day 1, but on day 3 or 4 the person should leave because someone else is leading you? I think not. Thats like giving up on a tournament. JVD came back and made a good run after blanking. Everyone griped about Co-Anglers because they said they were trying to make a living fishing, so isnt JVD trying to make a living as well? Im not really taking sides because neither are my favorites..Just hating the fact that someone should give up just because someone is leading.

Call is giving up, quitting or whatever you want. It is an unwritten rule that everyone in the Elite tournaments seem to believe in and follow except JVD. Seems like all the other pros that commented on the situation agreed that JVD should have not been "messing' with the leader.
Something like that could sure come back to bite him later if he is leading one of the tournaments. Some of those folks have long memories. Its highly unlikely that he was not aware of the "unwritten rule". Seems like he just decided he was going to play the game his way instead of how everyone else plays it.
Also not sure how much he was in contention. DB had something like 13 lb lead over JVD going into the last day. That is a lot of weight to make up. The chances of doing it are really slim.

They were both in the same area but there was a small area within that large area that was the sweet spot...seems that JVD zeroed first day and Denny was leading...Denny showed JVD the sweet spot by catching the leading bag and JVD beat him to it on day two...definitely not what I would have done.

Nor would I, JR, might have gone with choice C, or plan B, or just 'gone fishin'....and I think Timmy Horton also had a hand in getting DB back to weigh in before he lost more weight, was on the phone w/ lock master, talking w/the other anglers in the lock getting organized..

Well if the unwritten rule is that I can't fish a spot that I found and fished the first day just cause the leader of the tournament fished that same spot... That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. If JVD moved to that spot cause he knew DB was there and had done well thats a different story. Just cause I had a bad day in a spot I have to move...? What if DB was in second place? He would have still been in contention but then its ok to fish there? Did KVD leave lake chatatoweraka( what ever it was called) when Arron Martins was leaeding the classic this year? NO! end of story!
Take Dead Aim I'd rather be lost on the water than found at work! SkeeterEater

Maybe what Denny should do is just wait until the next tourney and just shadow JVD and see how he likes it when the shoe is on the other foot.

No wonder we see and hear about so many verbal fights on the water....everyone has an opinion of right and wrong.
What some don't understand is these group of guys are around each other more in one year then they are their own wifes! It's only 100 guys....word gets around faster than a west Texas forest fire! You get a bad wrap and your done for!

No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life. Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.

The Elite Pros have a problem with what JVD did while some here don't have a problem.
That tells you all you need to know.
