It's about a code of conduct and unwritten...but nevertheless understood...rules. If JVD is ever leading a tournament he will be given the same courtesy and respect.

But I guess questioning everything and deciding that you have a better way of doing things is a lot more common than it used to be.

How about in the classic when 6 guys were fishing within 40 yds of each other?

Gotta point!

Exactly! ...in no way, was JVD in the right, but it should/still might be settled privately duel

So he fished it on thursday, didn't catch anything, went back on Friday and did? I guess I don't really understand what the fuss is about. Was DB there on thursday as well? So does that mean that whoever leads gets first rights to whatever spot they want? I'm not bein a smart-[censored] or anything, I guess I just don't know the unwritten rules. I guess I don't get what JVD did wrong by goin back to the spot he fished the day before, can someone explain to me?

The fuss is that he zeroed on Day one and Denny was in the lead after day one. No one in the Classic sharing the lake zeroed on day one, that is the biggest difference. These guys have an unwritten code about giving leaders a wide berth. JVD broke that code, though he did not break any written rule.

Jvd wasn't in that area on day one from what I read. He then came into that area on day 2 after zeroing

This kid found the spot in practice and fished it on Day 1?

I say he had every right to go back there on subsequent days, as long as he wasn't right on top of the old man.

Unwritten rules are generally pretty stupid, but I have NO issue with the one in question here (giving the leaders their space)...it just seems like the kid had every right to be there. Now, if hadn't prefished it...or wasn't there on Day 1...tsk tsk.

JVD said on the online weigh in on day one, when he wieghed his fish on stage, that he was fishing within eyesight of DB. He said he lost 2 big fish due to equipment failure.

I thought that has always been common in America, isn't that why we claimed our independence?......j/k..... young whipper snapper needs to know his place.

I thought he zeroed on day one so how did he weigh any fish?

Let me make sure I understand:

1)He found the area on his own;
2)He fished the area on Thursday;
3)He fished the area on Friday;
4)He fished the area on Saturday;
5)He fished the area on Sunday;
6)He had legitimate shot of winning after Friday and Saturday;
6)He was not on top of Brauer.

If I am correct on the above, then the unwritten code is a bunch of carp. He had as much a right as anyone. Just because the leader is in the area doesn't mean you just abandon what you have been doing so he can win when you have a shot to win as well.

Now I preface the above on area, not spot. IF this was say a 50 yard stretch, an isolated hump, etc. then I could see the unwritten code being viable. Also, if JVD had absolutely no shot at winning, then I could see the unwritten code being viable. Otherwise, as I understand it, I have no issue with what he did.

He did zero and he did not weigh a fish on Day One. He noted that he fished it in practice and lost two good ones there on the first day, but he zeroed.

I guess the only difference is the 6 guys were all in the "winners circle." They all were in contention to win.

Where as JVD after zeroing day 1 wasn't.

That's the only difference I can think of.
