Got paired up with a guy for the second time who has never thrown a rod and reel. When I handed him the bait caster and spinning reel he asked how do I I used it. I new right away he would not be able to throw a baitcaster, so I went right to the spinning reel. After about an hour of teaching and dogging flying baits that was thrown staight up, he was finally getting it. Mid day he was doing pretty well. Sunday he had it down pretty well. He said he was so imbarrested(?) Saturday that he has never done this. I told him everyone has to start somewhere. I ran hard Sunnday morning trying to find some fish for him. I went over and over about the hook set and how to play the fish. I was telling myself if he gets a fish to make it a 14"'er so I can so him how to play the fish. Well a 10"er hit and he lost it. Then the 2nd fish was about a 5 lbd'er. I knew there was no hope. it eat his lunch and broke his line. I kept telling him it happens to everyone. I made a few more moves and he caught one and wouldn't say anything, I would hear, is this one to small. I would look down and it would be 16", that happen twice. He was so excited. With and the bad that happened with loosing a ton of tackle and respooling line It was worth it. PVA did make up for the lost tackle and the line caught in the prop. I got more line in the prop then I do on some of my reels. If you get a chance to do it next year, you really need to, it's fun.

Thanks,

It took 4 fish at almost 18#'s to win on Saturday. On Sunday in the team day it was like 15 and change. I fished both days and this is an awesome opportunity to meet some great people with a dedication to this sport some tournament anglers have never seen.

That 9.81 weighed in on Saturday sure changed my mind about Hubbard. What an inspiring group of fisherman and an awesome organization. thumb

It didn't change my mind about Hubbard (still hate it because I suck on it) but I was glad to see it. Got a chance to talk with the guy that won on Saturday and he was a very humble. What a great tournament for an outstanding group of men and women. It makes you proud to be an American!

This was my third year to participate as a boater. We had a great time. My guy on saturday told me he had never weighed in a limit before. The lake really fished tough and the big fish were few and far in between. Although there was a few weighed in. Well, my guy caught his fifth keeper at the last cast of the day! Plus, it was the largest of the day. Maybe 2.5 pounds! LOL He got 8th place and had right at 8LBS 2 spots out of the money. I told him we would be loosing alot of rigs so my job was to keep him fishing the whole day!

The whole entire event was very well planned and ran. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DEVOTED THEIR TIME TO HELP IN THE EVENT. I will see you next year.

Just want to chime in and also thank all you guys for the support and patience in fishing this event for us.
PVA is a great Tour and really helps disabled anglers either in the learning phase, improving phase or just plain having fun! Great idea on the spooling up some Zebcos for the beginner...never thought of that.
I went as a boater and paired up with Eric (RHBC)...we had a great time. Those of you that know him could have warned me of his "wicked hookset" - I think he could have rearranged some of the shoreline reed contours! LOL!
Nonetheless, we had a great time and enjoyed meeting alot of the local and out of towners who participated and THANKS to all the VOLUNTEERS who made it happen. It was run pretty smooth in my opinion. The results should be posted soon too! Thanks again and see you next year!!! thumb

Everything from the Friday meeting to each morning, i.e. ice, drinks and lunch to loading the boats and after a day of fishing to wiegh-in was great. Had a great support crowd and weigh-in with RHBC-Tom/SoCal Tom was great. TonTon and I drove the trucks thru weigh-in so both anglers could be in the boat going thru. Best thing about driving the trucks and boats thru was able to sit in the Trucks AC, nice and cold.

Ahhh, Jigfish, I was wondering how so many of the rigs had 3 people involved coming thru weigh in, haha, didn't look to see the drivers were all "repeats". smile Yeah I'll bet the a/c felt good.

My wife and I were there just to watch the fun at weigh in, we just bought a boat and were interested if there was gonna be any interesting mods to see for handicap help, I'm in a chair from bike wreck.(old guy in Daytona shirt with Aflac Edwards cap) I saw tommyc's special seat go thru, but didn't get to hook up with him, but I figured most were just gonna be normal boats that volunteered for this, so we just enjoyed the fun.

Somehow I knew you would bring this up. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say good bye. I had to give blood (Charter). Glad to see you made it home. I had a blast. Sure wish I could have contributed more to the livewell. Remember if you ever make it this way again, drop me a line and I'll be there. It was a pleasure.
