Use those hardheads for bait. Ling love 'em. Just snip off their fins to make 'em easier to handle. ?? sharks want eat a hardhead but ling do? Yes they will.

If anyone would like a Google Earth kmz file of all the wrecks and rigs and structure off of Port A (I am working on the entire gulf out to about 80 miles) then shoot me a PM with an email address.
You can then export it or find an online converter that will convert it easily for your GPS.
I DO ask anyone that wants it (not required but helps) to reply to the email when you and IF you can import by exporting what you have and I will clean them up and add to them.
Again, not required, but I am a few months away from the other ports (working on PoC atm).. and no.. I do not make money off this, don't care to make money.. I just want to fish and like to share...heh.

Yeah that is what I am looking for, my friend usually kayaks out to the rigs but he goes form PINS and isn't going to help me much if i break down lol. I need to just go sit at the packery or port A and wait try to find some people that want to team up.

If you ever go out of Port O'Connor and want a buddy boat then let me know. My schedule is clearing up and it's time to get salty. Joe

We use to go out all the time during the summer. The old timers i fished with as a kid use to always get up and look at the horizon. If they saw bumps we fished the bays and if it was flat we fished the rigs.

Google says 1 hour and 56 minutes. I was going to leave the boat in Corpus but it's too far of a drive to open water and Port A was expensive. POC is about 45 minutes closer to home also. Joe

Old thread but I took my 19ft CC out to the rigs this weekend, the weather wasn't the greatest but the boat handled fine. Only took 30 minutes before one of the guys was throwing up so I came back in and dropped him off. It was around 3-5 with the occasional 6-7 swell. Took me about about 45 minutes running 15-20 give or take to get out there. I think when it is under 3ft it will be a lot better to handle. I am sticking to the bays for anything over 3ft @4sec.

JP, you are dead on the money. Anything over 3' @ 4-5 sec is a beating. You can't run fast enough to get any distance either. I'll normally look for 2-3 footers. 3-4 if everyone going is seasoned and committed but anything over that is just too rough.
