Dude I don't know Mark Perry personally but the guy can probably outfish none of us here on the forum. I for one have seen the differences of tungsten myself. Flourocarbon as well. My dad is a bit like you. To stubborn to try something new. Why did you switch to mono? Mono hasn't been around forever has it? Another thing, if you fish Amistad you can literally throw anything and catch fish. The big thing is maximizing the amount you catch. I guarantee you that if I went onto a boat with you throwing 15 lb mono and lead weights vs mark throwing fluoro and tungsten he would outfish you 2-1. Fixed it for you. On a serious note I know some folks don't care to use tungsten and/or fluoro but all I can say is that it proves itself to me. I just honestly care about what makes my fishing better and I am not trying to change anyone's mind. I just don't like to be told what is best for me by someone that has not been in a boat with me or knows if the new stuff makes a difference for me. No big deal. debate is good. LOL. I don't know about that! Although I couldn't believe it made a difference at first, I have become a believer in fluoro and tungsten. Mainly because I got to see the differences first hand while fishing with my partner. The guy smoked me all year. I have finally switched to all fluoro and tungsten and if nothing else my confidence is much higher. That always helps as well.

can u rem!eber life before tungsten,we caught fish back then, w cheap mono yada, yada , were all victims of advertisments, fished w an elite pro/guide said tungsten is too expensive,u tell me@! I guess we should all just go back to cutting down cane poles, digging up earth worms and fishing out of wooden boats with oars I mean all this new age stuff is just a fad that marketing has created to steal our money! LOL I have done like Mark suggested and have searched for deals, I've ended up with enough Tungsten to last a few seasons for less then I would have paid for Lead.

If we're picking teams I wanna go with Mark and any of the TTU bass anglers.
Seriously though, I third the thoughts on Fluoro and Tungsten. I've caught more fish over 4lbs this year than any year I've fished. The bigger ones get finicky and give a mushy bite which I couldn't feel without better equipment.

The tungsten will give your boat a bigger chip in the gel coat when you set the hook, miss the fish and the weight comes back at 100mph whacking the boat. But I still like the small size. don't miss
