Went fishing today, wednesday, same place about the same time and I even got my husband to come along in the sunny heat of the day and fished with the maize I made yesterday that caught fish. Only had two takes. We were both fishing 2 rods. Should I make fresh deer corn everyday? Should I have thrown in the remainder after fishing? I'm stumped? Can't figure out what I could've done wrong except the bait wasn't fresh this time. HELP! fish hmmm

When I make mine I boil 20lbs at a time, I soak it, then pour it into glug jars of flavor or plastic bags full of flavor. Not much in each jar, like half full in a 4oz jar. I either freeze the rest or use it in stick mix or method.

I keep it in those jars in a bait bag, all with a different flavor liquid flavoring in them, and just stick the bag in the fridge when I get home. Keeps it fresh for months, laying in the heat makes it go sour in a hurry. Not saying they won't eat sour maize, but I prefer fresh.

Well today was way better than ever! I made fresh deer corn and flavored it with some liquid vanilla and put it in a gallon ZipLoc bag...only filled the bag by 1/4th. Threw some corn out for chum and baited with some. It didn't take long and the rod was bouncing! Caught around 12 in about 3 hours fishin'. The last hour, I put a little dough ball on the hook along with the corn on the "hair" and that really upped the commotion!! Thanks to all who helped me!!! fish

Nice job, glad it worked! As long as it's not sitting out in the heat for days at a time you should be fine with it staying fresh. Vanilla is a great flavor, I use it in my method a ton.
