A friend of mine calls me to see if a guy I know on Sam Rayburn was at the lake house. Called him back and told him no one was picking up the phone so he calls the local GAME WARDEN on Sam Rayburn and tells them he was broke down spun prop no spare in boat. Anyway they ask if anyone is hurt or in danger they say no and they tell them they are not comeing unless they where hurt WTF... Are they not out there to keep everyone safe and to help people that need it they sure as hell don't mind driving five miles to check your boat. I know they can't help everyone but come on this was not good they where at Caney truck at the Dam long way finally got a tow.

Heck if they would have helped or came out they may have sent him a bill ! They do not run a tow service.Would have been easier to catch a ride back to the truck and reload at Caney. Hope you get it fixed. Good Luck !

Well the guy that broke down is a fireman I guess if nobody is in the house let it burn be there later. Tell me why they are out there? Are they not out there to help?

Spare prop is always an option in my boat.

If there was a REAL EMERGENCY while they were towing a boat in it would delay them from helping a person or persons who truly "needed help" in a timely manner.

On the same level as people that dial 911 for things they could take care of themselves. And people these days are so stoopid, and/or lazy and selfish they don't care that those in REAL EMERGENCY situations will be delayed beacause someone is "owed" a response!

Come on be SELF RELIANT, and learn to handle adversity that is not that bad......

+1. Doesn't sound like your buddy was in immediate danger so just use the TM to get to the nearest marina or ramp and deal with it. Been there - done that.

Ask your fireman friend how he likes getting up in the middle of the night to help someone to the bathroom or check the battery in their smoke alarm? I guarantee you he hates it! If he was in no danger the Game Warden had no duty to respond.

Game wardens are not the tow service. Now if he needed to get his medication from his truck, i'm sure they would have helped.

Well I guess alot of you fish small lakes this is not a small lake they where a long way from the ramp. I know like I said they can't help eveyone but they can help if not needed at that time just like all Law and fire Dept do. Next time you are on the lake or if you ever go and need help remind yourself to be self Reliant and handle that adversity when guys keep blowing buy you but will the GW give you a ticket for not stoping to render aid just saying?

Being a fireman I assure you we are not rolling for every call we get. We have a dispatch center that screens out info and decides if we go or not. We will not respond if you are broke down on the side of the road either unless you are in danger or are having medical issues.
The games wardens addressed the situation when they talked on the phone. Boat occupants advised no danger or emergency so they did not respond. I see zero issue with it at all.

what happened to being able to ask for help when it is needed?

I can say from a public safety standpoint that courtesy gets abused and then people who truly need help are forced to wait or not get that help cause we are tied up with system abusers or people that consider a sunburn a medical emergency.
