Figured I would start this to just see what people use and maybe help others that see this thread. List any info regarding your rig/rigs you would like. 20LB Mono line, carolina rig, 5/0 cirlce hook, 1.5oz egg sinker on an 8ft rod with spinning reel. This is what it looks like. Except I dont use a different line for my leader. I also use a Palomar knot on everything This is my main cat rig. looking to upgrade to some 25lb braided line and a 9 ft rod.

IMO if you are gonna upgrade to braid go big like 65 lb or 80.25 lb braid will be lots of headaches

No float to keep hook from getting hung up? Actually no, never used one, so I would know how to :P Any input feel free to lay down your setup, pretty sure many would love it including myself. IMO if you are gonna upgrade to braid go big like 65 lb or 80.25 lb braid will be lots of headaches Will def look into it. Ive always used lighter stuff just because of the line diam. Ive always seen it as lighter is better. But as catfishing rig I will def look into some 65lb braid. Thanks

Is that a rig for drifting or still fishing? If drifting that is why they say the float before the hook.
65lb braid is much smaller diameter than 65lb mono, so I dont think line diameter will be an issue when using braid.

Great post, and I've always thought smaller better because of the diameter but knowing the braided bing smaller makes sense, now isn't it true in smaller test line braided is larger?

My rig pictured above is for still fishing. Im a bank fisherman as I dont have a boat. This is the setup I always use. Here are some other setups ive found using floats. Hope these help. (would you guys just like me to update the first post with all these pics and info from you guys)?

I've used mine with the float for drifting as do others, but bank fishing I usually have use two hooks with the lead on bottom. I've tried to use the one pictured from the bank and I catch more with the weight on bottom. That's my experience anyway.

I use a Carolina rig using 20Ib mono line, with a egg sinker that varies form 1/4 - 1.5 oz depending on wind and water conditions of coarse and a 3 to 4ft leader using 20 to 50Ib mono tied to a barrel or crane swivel, I place between my sinker and swivel a piece of model RC airplane tubing called a shock absorber this helps reduce cutting and messing up your knot while drift fishing. I use a 7Ft Medium Heavy rod. ![laugh laugh](/forums/images/graemlins/default/laugh.gif)
