I converted my kayak trailer to a bassbuster trailer. I'm gonna have to modify it to hold both (not at the same time) soon.

sTODDH-The Turtle, your kayak looks like mine. Wow, your kayak is just like mine except mine is a 2004 model and yours looks brand new. Whos kayak looks like yours gatorgar55? Turtle Todd: i bought a truck box at a garage sale for just that purpose but haven't figured out how to put it on my trailer. If i go cross ways how are the yaks gonna fit? if i put it lengthwise I may not have room for 3 yaks. Have you added one? If so some pics would be welcome-p- No I actually haven't. Seen it done on jet ski and other trailers. I was thinking it could be mounted crossways toward the front but with enough room for sharp turns. Probably would have to weld some kind of support to the trailer for it.

I'm moving RREEAAALll slow with this trailer. mostly because I just haven't made my mind how I want to build it yet. At first I wanted to build a tree frame that would hold three kayaks and a gear box at chest high. But I'm thinking about going a more simple route. Or at least for now. I cut the pressure treated plywood to size, and got a pressure treated 4x6 cut in half. I've got the 4x6 sitting under the two kayaks to hold it up off the fender wells. Next I will cut a couple groves in the the 4x6's for the kayaks to sit in. Then I will carpet the whole thing.

Simple works! I would cut a v or shape the 4x6 to match the hulls of the kayaks. That would help secure the kayaks better without deforming the hull.

Well I got time to put new lights and wiring on the trailer last night. I also cut a couple slots in the 4x6's so that the yaks will sit in them. I got up this morning and drilled and bolted the wood down to the trailer. I left a area in the rear of the trailer so I can mount a couple rollers to make loading and unloading a little smoother. I need to carpet the wood, and a couple places on the rear of the trailer still but she's getting close. On a side not a mocking bird built a nest in the wire fish basket under my shed about ten feet from where I'm working. I looked inside the nest this morning and found this. Looks like I need to leave her a little time to raise her young'uns too.

I like the idea of keeping them as low as possible as you are doing. certainly will eliminate a lot of wind drag-p-

I paid 300 for the trailer.28 for the lights.23 for the sheet of plywood. and I believe it was like 7 for the 4"x6"x8'. 10 bucks for screws and brackets.I just got tags and registered for 67. So somewhere around $425-$450.

Yea. It kinda surprised me when I started adding it up.
I need to get new tires before I go on a long trip too. I need to do some research on quality and price available for 4.8x12" tires.

looks good... Here's the one we use, built up from on old trailer, before we cut the top branch off. (didn't think far enough ahead to consider it was too tall for my garage door. )

yeah... true southern engineering with some parts from a lawn mower and some heavy plastic my buddy got somewhere. It's got a spring so it'll kick up in shallow water and so he can pull it up when he wants..
