In the pre-dawn hours at Fork, I could not get the boat off the trailer. After a few attempts while looking towards the back of the boat, I finally look back towards the truck to see that the trailer is at a 45 to the ramp. Realizing that the trailer was floating, I had to get the push pole to get the trailer back over the ramp to get the whole rig out of the water to remove the tie down straps.

Note to self: never assume that your brother in law removed the tie down straps.

Guy I know who didnt fish much.
Bought a brand new aluminum Bass Tracker, he takes it to the lake by himself the first time out. Tells a guy he works with the next day that the boat is horrible, wont get on plane, throws water everywhere each time he hammers the throttle down.
His buddy tells him, sounds like you are not trimming the motor after getting on plane.
Next day the guy goes back out, calls his buddy that night and says nope, still no good, he feels like he got a real lemmon, so the buddy agrees to meet him the next day at the lake....

Boat is already in the water when he arrives, he walks down to it and notices something funny looking sticking out the front...Trailer was still attached

Guy had been disconnecting the trailer ball from the truck.

No i didnt see it, just relaying the story.

My latest stunt was a few weeks ago at Jacksboro we fished the top lake first and headed to Lost Lake so we didn't use the tie-downs. Get to the next ramp undo the wench strap back my buddy in till the big whip-lash. I forgot about his safety chain on the bow hook smile

Dumbest thing I did a few weeks ago on Hubbard Creek was fishing a square bill and got snagged... Looked on the bank and saw old trot line so I followed the line to find my shiny bait. Laying on my gut trying to get bait off I hit my trolling motor button and away I go with now my shiny bait in my finger till it rips out....
I will say I have never been so scared.. But never felt like such a dumb A$$

I was on my way to fish a new lake in my old boat, a 16' tri-hull center console Arrow Glass Tarpon. I specifically put a $5.00 bill in my wallet for the launch fee. I was late getting out the door because of something my wife needed me to do, so I was a little irritated already.

So, on my way to the lake, I remembered that my wife mumbled something the night before about needing a few dollars for something the next day and I told here there was a 20 in my wallet. Remembering this, I pulled out my wallet and what do you know, all 25 is gone! So, I pulled to the shoulder and checked my mirror and started my u-turn, about half way through, both of the cars coming in opposite directions popped out of their respective blind spots and instead of being able to turn all the way out to the far shoulder on the other side, I had to gas it a little to miss the guy coming up behind me and turn into the center turn lane to miss the guy coming at me.....

The end result was a boat flipped up on its top, still connected by the safety chains and a proverbial garage sale in two lanes of traffic. Lures, rods, life jackets and ice chests everywhere!

That is a day I wish I could take back....

I was working in Sulphur LA and a friend that lives there asks if I wanted to go fish?! Stupid question.....We hook up his 16 foot fiberGlass boat and I notice there is no safety chains and he tells me the trailer never had any.....I also notice the coupling is very loose on my 2" ball, he said it would be fine......10 miles down the hiway I look over and there is a boat just like his right beside me going about 40 miles an hour. I look in the rearview and see nothing! We followed the boat and trailer to a nice peacefull stop at a gas station on the corner and backed right up to it and hooked it up again?!?!? To this day I still cant believe it didnt flip or kill someone! Sorry for being long winded

I fished an Aggie Angler tournament on Conroe one year, and drew the only girl in the club as my partner that day. I lifted the trolling motor, which was full of Hydrilla, and made a short run. Hit a wave, hydrilla dislodges from the trolling motor, and smacks her square in the face.

Not as painful as the countless nets that have come off the front seat and smacked a coangler in the head. You would think I would have quite that habit after the first experience...but I didn't.

I fished a tourney on Truman Lake with a buddy (off his nitro) a few years ago. We launched and went to our first spot, dropped the trollin' motor and started fishing. Twenty minutes later the batterys were dead, he forgot to charge them. We had to push the boat around and use the big motor for the rest of the day. So needless to say we got to hammer the areas we could fish.

We took 8th outa 150 boats and cashed a nice check.

Now would we have caught them fish if we would have not stayed where we were or not, who knows ...

Saturday, I decided it was time to put on sunscreen. Grabbed the can of spray, sprayed my arms and legs, took off my hat, closed my eyes and sprayed my face and neck. When I opened my eyes I couldn't see a think; I had left my sunglasses on.... Sh1t. Oh and when they say water proof they mean it. It took me 5 minutes to get that stuff off.

Took my dad fishing sunday after the family gathering for mothers day. He had the keys with him because he was loading his rods and tackle and wanted to lockup the boxes. Drove an hour to the lake and asked him where were the keys. He had left them in his khaki pants while changing into his shorts. We Drove home and fished from the bank at his farm pond. That will ruin a day.

So used to unhooking fish and throwing them back...one day I decided to keep a few sandies, tossed the first one in the livewell and threw my pliers into the lake.

I had an awful backlash and was in the process of picking it out when I just happened to look up an spot a huge double digit bass on her bed. I could only get about 20ft of line out because of the backlash but I flipped my bait to her anyway. She hammered the bait, I set the hook, she made a run and kept running cause the line popped at the knot in the backlash. I still haven't recovered from that stupid bone-headed move!
