So let me get this straight....a guy comes on here to gripe and warn others in the area about his equipment(that was locked in rodboxes) getting stolen and he gets a few more punches in the gut from people stating the obvious and getting on his [censored] about taking his stuff out, hindsight is 20/20... I am sure he never thought of taking his stuff out at all...yeah right, the true bad part here is the fact you cant leave things locked in your boat parked approx 10 feet from yor front door without a low life meth head taking everything from you even in a realy nice neighborhood, I hope the police arent the ones that catch them, but a suspecting fisherman with uncle winchester helping him...sorry for your loss Bill

The best advise I was givin was take your rods and tackle out of the boat at night.... the second best advise I was givin was if you dont take your rods and tackle out of the boat put a wireless baby monitor in you rod box and sleep with the speaker end right by your head. thumb

Years back we were staying at Powell Park at Raybur and a thief came in the marina during the middle of the night, and stole a boat useing the trolling motor. We were questioned by the game wardens if we saw anything. Jst goes to show if a thief wants something, they will do whatever they can to get it. Sorry to hear bout the loss especially just before a tournament

That's a lot of gear!

Unbelievable that thieves could haul away that much stuff without someone seeing or hearing something.

I'd be plenty pissed off if I was you.

We all stumble and make mistakes. When you stumble, do you want your brother to help knock you down or to help set you back on your feet?

My partner was prefishing a couple months ago and had launched at Humphrey's and had all his stuff stolen out his truck. They found his suitcase down the road at a carwash. Got his spare prop, bunch of tackle, sunglasses, tom-tom gps, totaled up to about 2500 worth of stuff. They broke the door handle slap off his truck and got in.

It does seem like an extra kick in the --- after having all your stuff stolen to talk about it on the forum and have a bunch of guys say "told you so," but the OP even mentioned reading posts about theft happening there and still left his rig loaded.

Believe me Hotty, I feel your pain because I did the same thing at the same place. Was frustrated after a poor tournament day on Rayburn, got lazy, and at 19 lost every rod and reel that I'd spent the better part of a decade collecting from doing side-jobs and getting hand-me-downs from dad. So I hope stating the incredibly obvious, "you should have unloaded your boat" wasn't taken as an insult, but a sign of frustration from guys that have been robbed before hearing about more people getting robbed at the same place. As long as thieves keep getting these huge loads of equipment from us, they'll keep trying.

If you're reading this thread and have never been robbed before, please don't be complacent and pay attention to warnings from those that learned the hard way.

I keep hearing bout taking ALL your gear out of your boat. So exactly how much and how long would that take??? Pretty easy to unload a few "snoopy" rods and a Plano 3600! banana
But on the prevention side:
Harbor Freight has 2 - motion detectors that attach under the lid for less than $5.00.
They also have a motion activated light/alarm that you can put in your truck facing through the back glass that will go off with motion. Cost $7.00
OR you can go with the full do-it-yourself alarm kit for less than $100. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/SR00036&CAWELAID=241007723#description
Add a rod-lock bar and a boat cover and that can be a significant deterance.
I don't think that emptying a boat is a very realistic option in most cases.

It takes me 10 minutes to unload 18 rod and reel combos, two ram-mounted sonar units, a structure scan module, my entire soft plastic assortment (all kept in a big sports bag for easier removal), every one of my hard plastic tackle boxes, plug-in charger, and put the tarp on when I park my boat at the storage facility (not enclosed). It'll take me 20 minutes to do the same at a hotel. Pain in the --- for sure but that's not too unreasonable.

Let me tell you I had one installed and even tho I still take alot out of the boat, it will still let me know that someone is looking or touchin. The sensor detects you if you just bump up again the boat or trailer and it will WAKE the devil when it goes off. All my lids have an alarm on them and they all work GREAT !!!!
