Caught a 11.2 on a small lake at Fort Gordon, GA. I have lived in Texas now three years and have caught a ton of bass between 5-7 lbs, but still waiting on my first Texas DD.

I have had 3 fish over 10lbs in the last 15 years but even though I have fished Fork for the majority of that time I have no double digit on Fork. Mine came from Palestine, Murvaul and Bob Sandlin.

Well I have to say that as many hours as I have spent fishing, it's a shame that I have not broke the DD mark. I have caught 3 nines. 2 on Fork and 1 on Gilmer. Then again, I've never reaaly and truly set a 10 lb fish as my goal. I fish club tournaments and winning Tournaments/AOY is a goal of mine. I agree 100% with "Lake Ivie Guide JR Howard's" thread early this year about catching giant bass. To catch these fish regularly, you have play a whole different game. Fishing the right kind of bait, in the right kind of water, with the right kind of equipment, and the right kind of mindset to fish hours on end without so much as bite, to me, is the kind of discplione it take to catch giant bass. Running down a bank chunkin hardware has caught many a 10 lb fish, but not consistently. It is a lot more luck than anything else. For me to be sucessful in my tournaments, I can't afford to spend a 9 hr day fishing for one 10 lb fish, only to get beat by someone who catches four 2 lbers and and a 3 lb kicker and beats me on stringer and points.
Catching is 10 lb bass or killing a 180 class buck and etc. is good for bragging rights and ego trips. IMO, in no way form of fashion does it measure the skill of an angler. Next poll, lets ask, out of the 178 "so far" that have caught a 10 +, how many were pure luck, and how many were caught skillfully targeting a fish that size?
Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!
