I saw some guy fishing the other day and the 2 fish he cought he would turn around and take off running till the fish was on land instead of reeling it in. I would like to see what he does in a boat

I guess I'm perfect because surely I have never 1) took off with my power pole down 2) Tried to unload my boat with my trailer buckels strapped 3) Launched my boat with the motor toter still on 4) Tried to get on plane with my trolling motor still in the water 5) Speared a wave because I was looking at my graph 6) lost rods on the highway because I did not strap them 7) Fell out the front because my trolling motor hit a log I saw coming 20 yards away. The scary part is I have managed to do all of these in the last year. I guess we never learn.

me and my buddy were anchored down on a point with both of us in the back of the boat to be able get to our target, throwing carolina rigs with 1oz weights and I just released a fish as he launches a cast at over 3,00mph and hits me in the back of the head.....ouch! then tells me to act calm so we dont draw attention LOL!

if you reading this you know who you are......

Worst thing I have witnessed is my uncle leaving 700 dollars in assorted bills in his shirt pocket. Took off and a huge cloud of bills puffed up in front of us. (We were following in a boat behind him) We ended up netting about 180 of it but the rest is at the bottom of Lake Amistad.

I've had to jump off my cousins bass boat in big swells because he broke one of the barbs off a pump. Boat filled up with water and turned over. Worst feeling ever. We ended up towing the boat back manually while swimming and pulling. Park rangers pull up and are trying to get us in their boat and get us back to shore. My cousin thinks they are just gonna leave the boat and not tow it back so he says "I'm the captain of this vessel and I'm going down with my ship." Gotta be one of the best one liners EVER got the boat back safe and it turns out the bonehead had total replacement coverage and would have got a new boat LOL

twitching the rod does not constitute a hook set.

holding the end of the butt of the rod while fishing has got to be tiresome on the wrists.

reeling the line up and leaving 6 feet hanging off to try to "whip" the lure out, using their whole body to cast of course... this is always a good time when fishing in a small two man boat.

holding the rod back behind their head for ...what seems like eternity looking for a spot to cast it, then "whippin" it out there causing the boat to almost turn over.

when loading a boat, backs the boat trailer in where the bunks are three feet under water, having to beach the boat, get out and explain to them how far to back it in, then having to get back in and run the boat up on the trailer.

suddenly shutting the boat down in big rollers as a huge wave is coming, causing the bow of the boat to bury into the wave. As a foot of water comes over and washes everything into the floor of the boat and running the bilge as you are heading for land!!!

trying to catch a bass when their worm is pushed down the hook and spins like a top as they reel, then getting line twisted up around their reel

giving them a plastic worm and see them feed the plastic worm up the hook like a nightcrawler.

most recently, giving them a top water frog and telling them not to set the hook till they feel the fish or see it taking line and watch as they jerk the frog out of their mouth and miss about a dozen fish..... then finally putting a trailer hook on the frog for them, only to watch them twitch the rod and call it a hookset... then proclaim "that dang frog is worthless"

take them to academy and try to get them to purchase a quality to rod and reel, only to have them scoff at the price and then see them get excited to find a combo on sale for fifteen bucks. buy the fifteen dollar combo and have to use their whole body to cast the dam thing and once again cant get a hookset by "twitching" a flimsy rod...

you would think when two guys stand side by side fishing using the same lure, one catches 20 fish and the other misses 19 and manages to get one in.... the person having all the trouble would make adjusments in equipment and bad habits... but oh... nooo... lets just keep doin it the same way and then complain about missing fish all day or not getting bites.

sorry for the long post, as many of these issues are still pretty fresh with me.
Im certain I have done many dumb or silly things and probably still do.. this is just a touchy subject with me at this moment...

Here are some things I see rookies do a lot:

Cast off the back of the boat when I am trolling down the bank...

Try to underhanded pitch cast before they ever learn how to do a normal cast...

Back their trailer in way too deep when trying to load their boat...

Back down the ramp and then start getting their boat ready to launch...

Keep casting with a loose loop down in their reel then when the line breaks in mid cast they wonder why...

Work a soft bait too fast after I told them to let it sit...

Idle through the stumps with their motors trimmed all the way under...

Did I miss anything?? rolfmao
