my god what a bluegill. Thats crazy. The ones that
you normally catch are fierce fighters. i cant imagine
what that one was like

That is a red eared sunfish aka shell cracker. It is different then a bluegill. On average they are bigger. They are also much harder to catch. That thing is an awsome fish. I have caught them up to 2lbs and they fight good. That is impressive!

Easy answer is he lives in Arizona and he's angry that he's so small. Notice his height on the door and the camera man's reflection in the glass. He's not a big guy at all. That's part of why the fish looks so big.

can imagine the fight that gave up! 6"-8" gills pull pretty hard for there size, that must have been a real treat! bet he didnt think he had a gill on the line!

When your swimming the little ones come up and nibble. This one might take out a hunk of flesh. Nice catch - lots bigger than the ones I used to catch at Ray Hubbard with my grandpa.
