Hi,

My brother-in-law and I are Fort Worth locals and definitely interested in coming. We are certified carp novices. We've only caught a few on fly rods and I have gotten one on dough bait, but we pretty much have no idea what we are doing besides what we can find in the net. Most of that seems to focused on fishing in the UK wand Western Europe where it appears carp are much more popular as a sport fish. We both have extensive tackle, but have no idea how to rig up or even what to even use for bait beyond corn or dough.

If we are ok to come, what would we need to bring and how do we find out where it is?

Everyone is welcome Winchester. Bring rods, reels etc. someone will help you get set up for carp/buffalo. We all like to help newbies catch carp. Not really a fly fishing section of the river so I would leave that gear at home. For bait corn will work and there may be people willing to share maize (deer corn) so you can hair rig it, if not you can fish corn straight on the hook on a running setup - it's how most start catching carp here in the US anyway.

As far as the derby is concerned all you really need is to fish near someone with accurate scales and a weigh sling to get your fish weighed. Bring food, water (or other liquids to drink) and something to sit on and a can or two of corn for bait.

Don't forget the sun screen if you burn easy.If I recall there isn't a lot of shade at this section of the river.Pending on traffic I'm only 10 minutes away from it so I might show up early.

Kristi will run the sidepot(s).

$5 for overall winner, $5 for biggest buffalo, $5 for biggest carp. Any sidepot not won will be divided between the other pots.

Overall winner will be decided by the five largest fish weighed in, in the case of a tie the largest fish of the five will be used as a tie breaker.
