Is a 7ft medium heavy rod a good or bad choice for crappie fishing?

Medium heavy is not necessary.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm thinking about trying the bass pro crappie max or the proangler.

Go Pro Angler, you will probably never fish another crappie rod! The 8 footer is my choice for jigging.

Pickup a ProAngler 8' in your hand and I think you'll be very satisfied with the feel and action.

Beer can with string around it. That way when you raise your arm to set the hook, you can go ahead and take that victory sip. Yeah, stick to those light beers...lol

I like a medium or medium light for crappie. You can catch them with a medium heavy but it is certainly overkill.

It depends on how you fish. Shootin docks or brush piles. All my rods are the cheapo ones from Walmart, Academy, Bass Pro or wherever. I fish brush piles that I make on Grapevine and I aint caught a crappie yet that complained about the the brand or the length. JMHO.
