a Yellow Magic is a topwater popper, looks exactly like the one hooked on the fish above.

Thats awesome! I've had that happen to my son while bream fishing. About the time he was getting ready to lift the bream into the boat about a 4lber came from under the boat and inhaled the bream. It had the bream and hook about half way down its throat. It was pretty awesome to see.

By the way great job and sounds like y'all had an awesome day!

Tony, I hope I didn't come across as "Doubting your story". I just wanted to know if anyone has ever caught a bass that ate a fish that was already hooked, essentially catching 2 fish at once.

Thanks for sharing, and as always, I enjoyed your story.

Thats awesome, one time i caught a bass on the back treble, as I was reeling it in another bass hit the front treble. They were both about 3-4 pounds so it made for a fun fight

Once in the winter a bass swallowed the barfish/jigging spoon so deep I couldn't even see the split ring on the spoon. Another time a bass ate the barfish on the way up and knocked the barfish off. As I was reeling up I saw the bass chasing so I stopped reeling for a few seconds. One more time a barfish bit a DD22. While my partner was reeling it up his barfish got chased to the boat by a large bass and a few seconds later he had an 8.2... LOL It happens more than you would think in the fall at Fork.

Alton,
It has happened to me twice in a period of 2 consecutive casts on Fork.. I hooked a bass on a point and as the fish came up to jump there was a swirl underneath it, when the hooked bass hit the water it exploded like a topwater as i saw a BIG bass try to eat my hooked bass.. the fish i had caught was 16 3/4 inches..
I make another cast to the same exact spot and thump, i SET THE HOOK and thought it was big momma but it felt small. As i reeled the small bass to the boat BOOM big fish hit it on the surface and started peeling drag then she was gone.. and i finished reeling in a 13" fish.
so i preceded to throw large swimbaits for 2 hours with nothing
I estimated the fish to be over 10 lbs, the next weekend my wife caught a 9.89 on that exact spot to win JCO

Saw the same thing happen during a night tournament. My partner threw a 3" french fry on some lily pads. A small bass hit and while reeling it in an over came from under the lily pads and tried to eat the smaller fish. Didn't knock it off but moved it up the line. My partner landed both fish and we won the tournament with one under and one over. Never seen any thing like it before or since. All this happened on Fork up in Lil Caney.

Mike it cooled down from 70 degress to 67 degrees today and the topwater bite was not happening.High pressure and the cool down shut it down,so we had to pull out deeper today.

My favorite type of fishing is spoon fishing in Nov. I've had big fish hit the barfish on the way up a million times, and even caught several of them. But, they've always knocked the barfish off, while hooking themselves!

I want to know if anyone has ever caught the bigger fish with the smaller fish still in her mouth?

I know that cove very well. The point in front of the boat that you cant see in the pic is very good this time of year.

Thats a cool story Tony, and yes, that doesnt happen too often out there.

The 14.44 Kendrick and I got in late July of 2010 loved to eat bass more than anything in the tank at the marina. Largest she ate was a 1.31. A few times we would throw in four or five that were .5 to .75 of a lb, she would eat two and in the morning the third one would be gone and some time during the next day a forth would either be gone or the rest she would kill. After a big meal like that it was as much as a week and a half between feedings. 10 days between feedings really put things in to perspective why there are not more large fish caught. Slower metabolism, larger meals, less feedings...
