Trains have cow catchers,and I especially am fond of the armadillo catcher on the front.

An F5 tornado can rip a slab completely off the ground. Those cute little spears aint holding anything down if they get in the way of the wrong twister.

Nice pictures but I gotta agree with the above statement. Those poles won't hold that thing down in a direct hit, no way, no how. If the poles won't come out of the dirt, then the dirt will give way and there she blows.

With there being no sharp edges for the wind to pull against (kinda like a dome home) it should stay put pretty good. I witnessed the effects an F4 had on a dome home which was virtually nil in 1979 in Wichita Falls. The wide base and narrow top with no real edges for the wind to grab makes this very stable.

If the poles won't come out of the dirt, then the dirt will give way and there she blows. i am sure the spears are meant to keep it from sliding along the ground. one of the reasons I put a few stakes on the bottoms of my brushpiles with cement bottoms.. to keep the current from pushing them along the bottom.
