While observing last week, the cameraman gets in the boat and mic's up the pro, starts the interview. "So what's working for you and what are you catching your fish on?" Pro says "catching most all my fish on a @#$%& #&*$% bait" Cameraman leaves and the Pro turns to ma and says "I know you caught that" and I say to him, hey you gotta take care of those that take care of you. He actually caught his fish on another bait that he was not sponsored by. Not exactly honest, but I do understand. Just don't take everything these guys say as fact. You guys have any problems with these little white lies?

I have a big problem with it. It the pro (or anyone else) is lying about a product, I really see that as a problem. Good business is not based on lies.
I hear so many people talking about these pros as role models, is that what we want out of a role model? I do not think it is right at all to teach our kids, or other adults that it is ok to tell a lie just to make a few more dollars for their pockets and for the sponsors pockets.

I pretty much agree, but don't look for it to change anytime soon.

i respect pros for the thier ability to catch fish, they wouldnt be where they were if they didnt... but they also wouldnt be where they are if they werent good salesmen and pitchmen...period.
when it comes to sponsors, wether fishing or some other sport, most will "sellout" to build up more or keep current sponsors.. not saying its right, its just the way of the world.
pro athletes should be looked up to for their athletic achievements... thats where it should stop... anything outside of their given talent, they are just people with the same weakness' and propensity for BS as anyone else.

I will put it like this, my dad once told me every fisherman is a liar but you and me and I'm beginning to wonder about you. Very few guys truly share the bait that is working for them, why should we think the pros are any different? Right or wrong these guys are fishing for a living and if the tell the reporter the truth about what they are using, there competitor would get free info frm a guy that put in the work to figure it out.

So don't answer he question or answer in such general terms that it does not help the competition. No matter how you sugar coat it, just because you are famous or a good athlete that is not an excuse to tell lies and then have people defend you for it.
Would you feel the same way about a boat dealer or car dealer telling you a lie about the product you were looking to buy? I sorta doubt it.

I can only believe the guys who caught the fish on camera, it's not a mystery what that are using with a camera in the boat.

I agree with Troyz. If you are not catching fish with your sponsored baits, don't lie. Just tell tell what type or style bait is working.

surely you dont actually believe everything a car or boat salesman tells you... there are "honest" salesman out there.. but they rare and then they are still not honest about price....EVER!!!!!

The cameraman and the pro were just scratchin each others backs. that's what people do. They get together and then they scratch each others backs.
