Cool,
Hope they flew out of the water (what a thrill).
Lady Fish (Skip Jacks) are fun too - they like to fly too - just down size your tackle,
Catch and Release is FUN - just match the fish to the right tackle they are all good just some are more exciting,
The tackle we used was literally bass tackle , 20 lb test , shimano bantam 50's, Short piece of 60lb fluoro. 4/0 diachii circle hooks We were slow trolling big live mullet on the surface 20 ft behind the boat, seeing those fish come out of water to eat was Incredible. the biggest one jumped 6 times. The fish would jump and spit the mullet and there would another fish there to eat it. I was in anglers heaven for about two hours while the bite was hot. Mo

Those are really cool until a shark comes and bites one in half. Happened to me once in Tampa.

There are hundreds of them caught off of Galveston each year... I know there are Texas tarpon, I have spent $$$$ fishing for them in Texas, have not caught one yet. On my last 3 Florida trips, I have jumped 23 And landed 16. I would love to see tarpon make a comeback in Texas to equal the world class fishery that existed here in the past. Until then , I will continue to tarpon fish in Florida, Mo

There are hundreds of them caught off of Galveston each year... Maybe so, maybe not...but regardless, Galveston is no comparison to Florida, La., and even the lower Texas coast for Tarpon. The Tarpon window off Galveston is relatively short from June to September with prime time in mid-August, assuming no major storms in the Gulf. There are some large fish off Galveston, but the numbers simply do not compare to other prime Tarpon locations.

No arguement with me; Florida is MUCH better than Texas with tarpon; in fact with snook, reds, specs, grouper, etc. etc. etc....
