Dang that brings back old memorys. I lived with my grandpa and in his back yard he grew what he called cain stalk. And them suckers would growback every year about 30 ft tall if you let them. We would cut them down about 10 to 12 I guess, saw them off. And just tie a string real good to the end a little longer than pole. And heck I fished at a pond and caught crappie, cats and even large drum with them. That was the good old days. I remember get a can of bisquite and a three way hook with spring and catch cat and drum all day. I was about 9 or 10 years old.

thumb - Outstanding Catch.
I Hand made a 7 footer from cane and tied a micro trout reel onto it. It is a mechanical device and it is affixed to the pole. I keep using the Cain Poles without the reel Just to make sure I don't forget what I am really about. (Method)
