Is it better to use anchor or stake out pole at water about 10-15 feet deep?
Does anyone have a good homemade stake out pole design that I may see?
I'm thinking of using 3 pieces of 6 feet pipes and attach them when needed.

Hobie's version looks like a handle you'd find in Home depot.
If you plan on making ur own, make it water tight so it will float.
Gorilla glue is water proof i believe & does comes in smaller tubes now.

the water sounds too deep for me...mine is only good to about 5 ft.

Speaking of anchors...I got mine hung today and had to cut it loose. I'll add the trip line to the next setup, that's for sure. DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!! cry

Made mine out of an old ski pole. Doesn't corrode in the saltwater and has a ready made handle to grip when shoving it in the mud. You can find em at thrift stores for a few bucks. Anything over a few feet is too much for a stakeout stick IMO.

Thanks all for the replies.

@ Zombie. Thanks for all the pictures & push pole info.
I think the push pole is probably what I'm looking for as I can use it to push & to stay in 1 place.

@ David Cole. So what's the proper way to anchor? Also, what's the proper way to set up the anchor so it won't get hung?

@ Daveg99. Since "piece of chain on a rope" doesn't have any hook to grab to the bottom, how does it work? How heavy does the chain have to be?
