The ProAngler catfish rod was designed by me and owned by me. Ask anyone who uses them and you will know that I stand behind my product. I don't have them in stores because I am not a wealthy man and can sell them at a more reasonable price the way we are currently doing it. They are available online, directly from me, from Bob in Azle, Oscar in San Antonio and will soon have them available in a store in Oklahoma. We may have started small but are continuing to grow by selling an excellent product for a reasonable price. If you have any specific questions, feel free to call me personally. My cell number is 817-988-5468.

Shakespeare has been around for a while. Started in 1897.Warranty is 5 to 7 years. Can be bought almost any sporting good store. ProAngler made by ?????? Warranty is ??????? The only place to buy them is out of the trunk of someones car. None of the sporting good stores have them? Why is this? cuz it's a relatively new , small operation .....how big was Shakespeare a 100 yrs ago? they were probally sold off the back of a horse or mule..........nuttin wrong with Ugly sticks but for relatively the same price I like ProAngler better...even if all else was eqaul u get more stainless eyelets on the ProAngler.....if u are looking at the higher end ugly sticks then they are more expensive than the ProAnglers

i was wondering which would be better to get, i generally fish rivers and dams and the occasional bank spot. Ive heard tons of good things about proangler rods and well just wanted to know if there were any people out there that use or prefer uglysticks. Plan on going on a trip to arkansas and mississippi over the summer so i want to be prepared for that record flatty or blue (and a possible gar) bassing4cats, if you are going after a record flatty or blue, I would go with the proangler rod. I have never used one or seen one in person, but alot of people have good things to say about them so they must be a good product. The only thing negative I would have to say about a proangler rod is, I live in Central Tx and there is no where around here to get a rod with out driving a few hours to pick one up. Or get one shipped and pay double the price for one. I've been using uglysticks for a long time, and have never had one let me down. It's a good rod for channels and blues which is the type of fishing I like to do.

I believe Tex will tell ya, there is nothing wrong with a Ugly Stick , Never heard him say any thing wrong about them. As a matter of fact, I have never heard him say any thing negative about any rod.
Here is the thing about his ProAngler Rods. He has tested them,,, actaully , he had a bunch of folks test them', abuse them, make changes, make better, then improve on that. They are pretty much designed just for catfishing. It's a CUSTOM rod for the price that us regular guys can afford. I have had the 1st gen rods and now 2nd. I really dont think they can get any better.
Yea , its a little much for a 1.5 pd fish,,,, I think is great for eaters though. And I know it will handle ANY THANG we can hook on it.

I love the Tiger. My pard loves the Proangler. Difference is the price, at least $25 more for the Ugly Stik Tiger.

Hey Freeman, I use them and what was great is I picked them up while I was up there in Dallas area and saved on shipping. I didn't make a special trip for them, just called and got them from Tex while I was there doing something else. For just a few bucks more you are getting so much more than the standard white catfish ugly stik. Like I said earlier, those are good rods too and served me very well for years but I just wanted a little more rod for the bigger fish and more eyes for casting. Proangler was my choice and do not regret one bit. Absolutely a great rod, worth twice as much (don't charge me double TEX LOL) and would put it against most rods anyday.

It's what ever you like, but if you are targeting big fish mostly, I do highly recomend the Proangler, if you are fishing for eaters, most any rod will work, there are a lot of rods in between, and all different prices, Tex has took a great rod and made it affordable for us, I have 14 Proanglers in my boat and here is a couple of reasons why, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbYAq5bkN4ohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhSRBd-TJZwThe first video is a 54# Blue, and the second is a 63# Blue, you can bend the rods, but you don't have to worry about them breaking!!! Thanks Tex, it's been fun!!!

This is almost as bad as the trendy little girls down at the outlet mall. I guess you just cant catch fish without a proangler... despite the fact that people have been doing it for years!

There are a lot of Ugly Stiks, so for the purpose of this analysis I will be comparing the 7' foot ugly stik medium heavy catfish bait cast rod to the 7'6" pro angler rod. Both are great rods with enough back bone to pull in a big fish and sensitive to feel small bites. Both are reasonably priced and great values. The only reason why I use Ugly Stiks is the PA rods will not fit in my 7' rod box. A lot of times I keep my rods on deck, but when I m fishing for white bass I like to clear the deck.
