Most of the other nicer parks are charging something now, so it doesn't surprise me.

Does anyone know the results from the meeting?

I used to launch at Stewart Creek Park in The Colony ($75 annual pass for a non-resident and it goes up every year). But found out about the free launching at Little Elm Park last summer so I started launching there.
Hopefully they'll keep it free to launch and just charge to camp.
We pay enough already. Boat tags - $check$ Trailer tags - $check$ Fishing License - $check$ Launch Fee --- ???
What's next, charge us for each fish we keep?

I did hear the property for the ramp was donated to the city and one of the terms was they couldn't charge for boat launching. True. Years ago, there used to be a launch fee, but someone read the deed restriction for the land donation. So for now it is a free launch. But nothing in the deed restriction for a entrance fee where everyone has to pay to enter. The Oak Point ramp is $2.50 a day, annual pass is $18.

I was just there....and unless they want to do major renovations to make it more secure I wouldnt worry about paying....on a smaller note someone dropped a xmas tree by the boat dock..thanks for the big crappie I pulled from that.
If there is water...I will find the fish in it

Not decided yet but trying to make limited park facilities primarily available to residents (taxpayers) . There are 40 boat parking spaces. Talked about an annual fee of 25-35 for residents and 65-75 for non. One councilmember was for non res fee to be up to 200. Would only collect daily fees from Fri-Sun May-Labor Day. Swim beach fee would to be $1. Residents spoke of the crowding and chaos at the park at certain times. Source:Little Elm Journal (April 1).

$200 for a non-res fee - now that right there is funny, I don't care who you are!! Clearly that person has visions (more like hallucinations) of making LE park an exclusive/private park for LE residents, and if that's what they're trying to do, there are plenty of other nice parks to go to. What he doesn't realize is how much traffic that park gets from non-residents.
You can still go right down the street to Cottonwood Park and fish or launch for free....or are they planning on making that an exclusive resident country club too?
Sad thing is that is a nice ramp on that side of the lake.

They are not wasting any time, there is already a small shack set up. Looks like to collect money.

Little Elm Park used to have an annual permit $25 and a daily user fee of $2 years ago. They stopped the fees in 2000 or 2001 because it was too dificult for folks to obtain a permit. I wondered when it might come back as they are spending lots of money maintaining the parks. If they do it will be for both LE and Cottonwood Parks. Cottonwood is already limited access because of the marina.

never undersestimate the municipal power of generating revenue. If you guys over there would just get more speeding tickets, this wouldn't be happening!! Tough economy right now. Cities have to make money where they can to survive. If they would MAKE the money rather than just TAKE it, it might be an easier pill to swallow. What will we get for the entrance fees? Security? concession/bait stands, store, decent restrooms?
