Matt Lee (Buda13) & Janel Lee (Texasmae) Benefit Tournament & BBQ

LOCATION for launch, weigh-in and BBQ: public ramp next to Trawick Pavilion

In case you are not aware, two of our long-time TFF members, Matt and Janel Lee have been facing some difficult challenges. Janel has a heart condition and has had surgery twice in the last few months. She has been off work, and Matt has also taken a lot of time off to be with her during this time. They could use a little help.

Matt is always volunteering his time to help out people in need. Now it's his turn.

We are hosting a BBQ and Bass Tournament for Matt and Janel on the 2nd of April at Grapevine Lake. Everyone is invited. If you don�t fish the tournament, we encourage you to show up around 2 p.m. for the BBQ.

BASS TOURNAMNENT SPECIFICS
$100 per team or per boat with an optional $20 big bass pot
The tournament will pay back 50% and 50% will go to Matt and Janel � the big bass pot will pay back 100%. Scott Gordon will be TD and registration is day-of, in cash. We are asking for a minimum $10 donation per person for a plate of BBQ, chips and a drink

Matt and Janel are two of the finest people you will ever meet. I consider myself blessed to call them both my friend. Most of you know Matt (Buda13) and know that he will give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need without hesitation. Matt and I have worked together to host many charity tournaments to help out our fishing family. Now he is in need and I encourage you to come out and support Matt and Janel on Saturday April 2nd. This will be an amazing event and I look forward to seeing you!

I just want to get on here and share a little more in depth of whats going on. Janel had open heart surgery December 13th to replace a valve, root, and arch.. she was well on her way to a full recovery and had already returned to work when she had a sudden type b dissection of her descending Aorta on Feb 23rd. This was way down the other side of her heart in the abdomen area, unrelated to the first surgery but still another issue caused by Marfan Syndrome. She spent 11 days in ICU, had a second surgery to repair the descending dissection and is presently recovering from that procedure. Her job denied her application to the shared sick leave program saying the second issue was related to the first, even though the director of cardiology at Baylor has a totally different opinion thats the decision at her job no more appeals. She used up all of her sick time and personal days with the first surgery and they dont offer any kind of short term disability. What this means is she will be out of work for quite some time and has already been out 2 weeks, if an additional procedure is required she may be out 3 months or longer. Since she is not working her job does not cover their half of her insurance so we will be responsible for both halves of that in addition to the loss of income. I know thats a lot of personal information for the forum, but I wanted everyone to have all the facts and understand what we are truly up against. Thanks Yall.

Matt, no matter what your extended family will see to it that we get you both through this, no matter what it takes! The fishing family and our TFF'rs are the most benevolent group I have ever met. We will all pull together even if it takes an extended multiple effort.

Buda - sorry to hear that you guys are having such a hard time. I will be there for the benefit and will put Janel in my prayers.

Matt/Janel... I won't be able to attend the tourney, but I can get with Stan or your self to see how I can contribute... Maybe I'll see you next Wednesday night.
