Hi Everyone My name is Jarek and I'm from Poland. Fishing is my hobby and way of life. I came here to learn something new from you. I wish i could some day catch cutthroat trout in one of your awesome rivers or hunt for great musky. If someone would like to see how fishing in Eastern Europe looks like - visit my blog Fishing in Poland Best Regards!! Jarek

Do you do much Carp Fishing over there, Jarek? I know they're prized as a sport fish throughout much of Europe, and I'd heard that in Poland carp is often traditionally eaten as a Christmas dinner, any truth to that? Sounds good to me hehe.

Welcome to the forum! Yes of course! Carp fishing is very popular in Poland. Even more popular than spinning. We are just begining with casting. I sometimes try carp fishing. Mainly in summer when we can spend a night outside. Beyond carp you can catch this way AMUR (Great and big - sometimes 80 pounds sport fish) That's true. Almost every family in Poland eats carp for evening meal at December 24th, when we start Christmas. I will write a few words about carp fishing in Poland soon. Now I can show you a few my photos.

Great photos, Jarek, thanks for sharing! I look forward to reading your carp fishing stories soon.
Here in America those are generally looked down on by most anglers who haven't yet realized what amazing fighting fish they can be. But a small number of people still love catching them.
And fish on Christmas dinner sounds good! How do you guys usually prepare/cook your carp for Christmas?

@Starless I will inform you here when i put this text on my blog. There are hundreds of ways to prepare carp. I will describe my favourite One day before eating you have to make fillets, put them to a bowl with salt, onion and lemon juice. The cover it with foil and put into a fridge. Next day wash fillets deeply, and fry with breadcrumbs or without if you prefer:) We eat only small carps - up to 6 - 8 pounds. @Mudshark Hi! no i have not. What is Bunker?
